First Peterson is not the best player in the NFL. Not even close, so there is hole one in your argument. Secondly do you really think BA and SK is just going to toss aside the offense they have built the last two years to accommodate Peterson? Get real. That is hole number two. Ellington played injured all year and was never 100%. You have him as a injury prone RB after one year of injuries caused by overuse and running him up the middle too much. If that is the case then so is Peterson because he has missed time due to injury. Hole number three. Can you really justify paying a player who is going to be on the field roughly 50% of the time and pay him like he is going to be an every down player. Even Minnesota took him out on passing downs. He was not a big part of their passing offense. Hole number four.

You are not looking at this from a reality standpoint. The guy has already carried the ball over 2,000 times in the NFL. That is a lot of wear and tear. He has already tore ligaments in his knee twice. If you think he is going to take anything less than $10M a year you are talking crazy talk. The last three years of his present contract call for $15M, $15M, and $17M. Are you willing to pay that to a guy who is going to carry the ball 200 times a year? BA is not going to take carries away from Ellington. When BASK are looking at getting another RB who is similar to Ellington then they are looking for some one that not only can carry the ball but can catch the ball. The team let Dwyer go for a lot less. Do you really think Michael Bidwill is up to the PR of signing a guy who beat his kid with a switch and stuffed leaves in his mouth? We are talking about a 4 year old. His excuse that all black parents in the South do it is ludicrous.

Ignorance truly is bliss, huh? Enjoy.

I think you are underestimating his ego. He was the offense in Minnesota. He would have to share the limelight in AZ. I also read he wants to stay in Minny.

I think you are clouded by your disdain of him due to his off the field actions.

It would be great to finally get AP on this team but we can't afford big money for him or any RB.

BA does run a Pass Happy Offense, always has, but it doesn't mean he couldn't get AP enough touches.

All I have to say is that AP will have a HUGE chip on his shoulder this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him run for 2000 yards this year. Whoever he plays for will be VERY happy to have him. Just saying.

Nothing like being condescending for no apparent reason just because you find someones comments to not follow what you think is accurate.

It's so typical of cardsfanmd, it doesn't surprise me at all.

I don't want to be rude but how does one even come up with this type of ridiculousness??? I'm honestly curious. This easily goes down as one of the all time most senseless post I've ever seen. We're talking about the best player in the NFL and you're talking about whether there'll be enough carries for him after we feed our injury-prone, contact-wary scatback and Stephan Taylor???? Really?

Who the hell is this? Ellington isn't injury prone or contract wary.

What I don't get is why the talk about AP when we don't even know he will be released by Minnesota. Why would they let him go and who says he will be available at all this March?

Chopper: Cards could go after Patrick Willis.

Chopper was not a guest on the Burns & Gambo Show yesterday. He said that if PW is released by the 49ers it would not surprise him if Keim went after PW as he would fit in well with Cardinal's defense. Wolf & Doug did not talk about this on their morning show today (Tuesday). I'm sure they felt that Chopper was as credible as Sommers on Cardinals info that is pure speculation on forcasted events which are unclear to occur.

I think Willis could end up in Chicago if SF is done with him.

Not sure if this is sarcastic or not. He definitely avoids contact (not that alone is a bad thing) and he suffered from what 3 or 4 different injuries this year? That's pretty injury prone if you ask me.

Why are some thinking AP would have to worry about sharing the load with Ellington. AP would hands down be the starter and Ellington would be the complement to him. AP is one of the top 5-10 RB's of all time and Ellington showed some glimpses as a rookie. If the Cards could snag Peterson, you do it and don't look back. And, there is no place on earth where you would not look at AP because you have Ellington as your RB. That would be comparable to not taking a shot at Von Miller because Alex Okafor had a nice 2nd half of the year.

I agree with this and would add that Juke would still get enough snaps because he such a great receiving option.

Why are you ridiculing me on posting what I heard on the radio? Its the time of year in the NFL when there will be lots of rumors on trades, free agency, and the draft. I thought the Board would be interested in what players the Cards beat writer Kent Sommers feels the Cards may go after. I'm sorry that it upset you.

I misread his post. I thought it said contract wary. I thought wth does that mean,he's still on his rookie contract. Sucks getting old. :D

As far as the injuries, this is the first year he's been injured & he played most of the year with the injury.

I'd take him in a second. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Are we all missing really obvious here? AP is still in Minnesota. Larry is, of course, from Minnesota. Ball boy for Denny Green at Minnesota. Often rumored to someday "return home" and play out his career for them. So what if AP gets reinstated, and the Cards and Vikes are able to put some package together to trade them for each other, and minimize the cap hits on both sides?

My best guess is that Bidwill is trying to work a compromise with Larry and hang onto him. But Larry might not be willing to give up much, if anything, to stay, despite what he's saying publicly. So the backup plan is a deal with the Vikes, with terms reached more or less in advanced, mostly baked and ready to go. Farfetched? Sure doesn't seem like it.
