I'm getting to the point where I just don't give a rats butt anymore. He is here this year and I'm not going to worry about 2009 until this time next year.
One of three things are going to happen.
1. Nothing. Fitz gets paid what he gets paid. Most probable.
2. The 2 parties agree to an extension and everybody is happy. Not as probable.
3. He gets traded. Least probable and VERY unlikely.

I'm moving on.

That was my idea a while ago, now I sign in, see fitz threads everywhere and sign back out.

This was a good article by Kent Somers and was clearly labelled "Analysis" or "Opinion," don't remember which, in the paper this morning.

In the end, if Fitz does not wish to be here, for whatever reason, we'll just have to deal with it and trade him this year or next.

Skkorp, this statement is a false dilemma. "Either you are with us, or you are against us." is another famous form of this type of rhetoric.

Plus not to mention in 4 years there is either going to be a lock out in 2010 or a new CBA which will again raise the cap considerably and make the supposed cap hit the last year or two not that big of a deal anyways.

We are just going to have to concede to the 4 year deal I think. If we do I think that Parker will concede on some of the money and/or structure concidering he will be getting his wish for yet another contract before the age of 29 under a new larger CBA.

joe, not arguing your logic, but as Kent suggested in his column, he's not convinced Michael Bidwill is yet willing to put up that kind of cash. And the owner always has to approve deals of this magnitude.

I am also convinced, unlike you, that Eugene Parker will not concede anything on any aspect of the deal.

I believe Rod Graves was telling us the truth when he said we could and would bear Fitz' cap hit this year. Subsequent negotiations might alter or have altered his position or ownership might alter the team's position on this.

I think we'll find out by draft day and maybe not until then.

My hope is still that we make him play out this year. I cling to my belief it will benefit all parties.

But don't we have to consider what message this sends to other stars on this team? What is Drew Rosenhaus going to say next offseason when he wants more money for Anquan Boldin?

What message does it send, if we conceed some things for your side we expect you to conceed some to ours.

If you notice I have both sides coneeding to something. Contract negotiations are never one sided and sometimes you have to conceed to something in order to get what you want and/or to get the other side to conceed to something of yours in good faith. It is called negotiations, if we do this for you then you will have to do this for me, scratch my back and we will scratch yours, and so on.

Plus Fitz and Boldin are completely different situations. We wont have to even talk about Boldins new contract for another 2 years when Boldin will be considerably older then fitz is right now.
