I couldn’t be happier with Rosen’s play. Calm, poised and accurate with a strong arm. It got me wondering what his numbers would have been without the egregious drops, so I did a quick review and his numbers are terrific (His deep ball this game was the best we’ve had since Warner).

Actual stat line
15/27 55.6% 180yards 1TD 0int 88.5 QBR

No drop on easy catches (Larry’s first drop, Kirk, JJ and Seal Jones)
19/27 70.4% 282yards 2TD 0int 128.9 QBR

Larry makes TD catch (Looked like PI to me)
20/27 74.1% 293yards 3TD 0int 133.7 QBR

Williams gets foot down (which would negate Larry’s dropped TD above)
20/27 74.1% 309yards 3TD 0int 148.5 QBR

Those are some incredible numbers for a rookie in his FIRST start. Granted, it’s just one game but if it is any indication of future performance, we’ve finally got our franchise quarterback.

(Now fire McCoy before he breaks him!)

McCoy can’t break him. He is too confident. As a matter of fact, if you are going to lose, lose conservatively. Looks like Josh has good chemistry with Leftwich

Rosen just goes out there and deals. At no point in this game was it bigger than him.

We need to change Honey Badgers saying to

Rosen was a revelation today. Very good arm-strength and accuracy. Very good poise. Very good decision making. He looked like the real deal, at least for one game.

Now opposing DC's will scheme for his tendencies. So be ready for that. But, it looks like finally, our QBOTF prayers have been answered.

And, I was completely wrong about trying to protect him. If the Olilne pass blocks the rest of the season as well as it did today, Rosen will have a fighting chance to lead this team to some victories. But the receivers.. and Dawson.. oi vay.

Yeah, i was looking forward to some positive media coverage on him this week but he wont get too much praise because the box score doesnt tell the whole story.

He was surgical out there today.

I watched Rosen’s post-game presser. He doesn’t care about media coverage. Said we will know there is a problem “when he is not smiling.”Very mature for a 21 year old. His confidence will outlast this coaching staff. And he won the locker room today

He's going to have bad games too but I don't get the teams don't have a book on him or teams will scheme for him stuff. That's the kind of thing you say about Wilson or Kaepernick or one of the mobile QB's who make plays outside the pocket. Those are the guys you need to see play to figure out the scheme is keep them in the pocket. Despite what Schlereth said repeatedly we do NOT want Josh outside the pocket, he's at his best in the pocket. Everyone knows that, that's actually why other QB's went ahead of him the one thing they could do better than him was move.

the book on Rosen has been there since his debut at UCLA, he's a pocket passer, make him move off his spots, get pressure on him etc. There's no revelation teams are going to get from todays game that changes that. When he has time to throw he's going to look terrific, when he has no time, like most of his time at UCLA, he'll have some hiccups, which is how a guy that good had 26 INT's in 30 college games. UCLA had no run game, no OL and mediocre WR's and Josh forced balls under pressure. If the Cards can improve the WR's I think he'll be just fine, he's a very intelligent kid, that tendency to force throws into coverage is something he hopefully grows out of.

He's going to have bad games but IMO it's not going to be because teams now have a book on him, it's because it's the NFL, he's 21, and he's still learning.

dude was DEALING today. He's the only reason I have any excitement about this team moving forward.

I know he's going to have bad games and bad throws, but to step right in and perform like a freaking star in his first start today was beyond impressive. Some QBs would get down a little after watching so many PERFECT passes dropped. He just kept dealing like a boss.

Great performance by Rosen today. But on the "if" factor, if my uncle didn't have a dick he would be my aunt. It is what it is.

Rosen is a complete QB, meaning he can zip it, make every NFL throw and has amazing touch, which means you cannot scheme against him. The kid does not get rattled. The kid is smart and making line changes and knows when to throw it away and what is trying to be accomplished. Rosen also stood in the pocket and took some hits, one which should have been called an illegal hit according to the new NFL pussified rules... and he is only 21 years of age, joy!

Keep the youngster upright and draft some weapons for him. First time we have had a guy like him

I usually ascribe to the same theory, but not today. Dude was dealing like a 7 time All-Pro. It wasn't just a couple drops here and there... it was MASSIVE drops, on huge plays that were perfect passes. He couldn't catch the ball for them.

Kirk, Nelson and Seals-Jones had one point blank drop each. Fitz had 3 in traffic but should’ve been caught. The throw to Kirk was beautiful. It was probably his second best pass behind the TD.

Man he played so great.

But what I liked was his pocket presence. He didn't take any dumb sacks threw it away when he had to.

He made some great throws the WR let him down today

Also that throw to Seals Jones for the long gain where I think Gresham ran the wrong pattern and actually was reaching up for the ball himself. That was a flat out perfect throw in a unnecessarily tight window because 2 guys were in the same area.

The other one to RSJ to the Cards sideline on the final drive was better. Wagner had it covered but it was perfectly placed.
