Yeah, Firefox 2 is the newest form but it may have you run an update when you first start it up. Luckily, updates in Firefox are painless.

Just downloaded firefox. Pages load almost instantly. Far superior to IE, which on my computer won't even load images on ASFN anymore. Just the little boxes with the x in them.

Speaking of ASFN. On my computer at work the color scheme is red. On my computer at home the color scheme is gray. Anyone know what's up with that?

Go to User CP and then Edit Options. All the way at the bottom is a box marked "forum skin," there are several options there to change the color scheme. That's probably what's going on.

Another benefit of switching to firefox is the automatic spell check on posts for ASFN that I didn't have before.

It's also a lot faster loading pages.

Firefox is the only way to fly

And you can add in many options including a IE emulator

Is there any problem with Firefox and complex foreign language websites loading and interaction, etc.?

I use Firefox 99.999% of the time

Firefox has an amazing array of plugins but the biggies are

  • IEtab - runs IE on IE only sites [very rare] most company internal
  • Noscript - Selectively blocks active content [including annoying flash ads]
  • Adblock plus - eliminates adverts
  • CustomizeGoogle - Forces Google tools into https mode so they are encrypted.
I haven't looked into other languages but I would be very surprised if it had problems

Love Firefox, but it crashes on startup on my Dell/WinXP Laptop. I've trashed it and reloaded it and still no change. I miss Firefox.

What version were you using? You can try the updated version of Firefox 2, or the beta of Firefox 3 to see if it makes a difference.

My firefox stopped working coreectly--I couldn't use apostrophes, tabbing didn't work right, etc... So, I uninstalled and re-installed. No dice. I'm back to IE.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say that Microsoft sabotoged it.
