I thought you looked familiar. I was at that show too! My buddy and I worked our way up until we were about 20 feet from the stage. People kept throwing water and stuff on Des Barres because it was so hot. That was a great show!

How about:

Missing Persons
The Waitresses
Wang Chung
Yes (90125)

I put Duran Duran on my first list. They are still a really good listen. Rio is a classic album IMO.

On the radio right now is Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue. I remember taping that video and watching it over and over. :) My favorite Duran Duran song is Wild Boys.

How could I have forgotten Eddy Grant? No '80's compilation is complete without Electric Avenue.

Moving Pictures is better.

Witch Hunt is awesome, as is Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, Vital Signs, and Limelight.

Tough call...but the song 2112 is the length of the entire 1st side of the album.

To each his (or her) own. When it comes to Rush, you can't go wrong.

I listened to the following and really digged these songs:

Dio - Egypt (Chains are on)
Dokken - every song
Kiss
GnR
Judas Priest - Some Heads are gonna roll
Accept - Balls to Wall
Iron Maiden - Flight of Icarus
Twisted Sister
WASP - Eff like a beast
Metallica - Master of Puppets (one of the greatest albms ever)
Crue- Helter Skelter
Ozzy
Litaford (good call earlier)
Alice Cooper
AC/DC

But I also liked DUran DUran's "Hungry Like the Wolf"

:)
Some others I liked:
Who could ever forget The Tubes and ZZ Top.

Police - Every Breath You Take

Hall And Oats

"Puttin on the Ritz"

"One Night In Bangkok"!

Herbie Hancock

You and me both, buddy! I got made fun of a lot, but never beaten up. Here is some more stuff I remembered listening to :

Yaz
Howard Jones
Erasure
The Vapors
Red Rockers
Trio
OMD
Psychedelic Furs
Falco
Hall & Oates
The Clash
The Jam
The Power Station

Saw the Red Rockers open for U2 in 1984. Got suspended from school for ditching, too. First show at the new (then) Compton Terrace, and saw Howard Jones in 1986 at the AZ State Fair for 50 cents! Saw OMD and The Thompson Twins, same year, and Depeche Mode twice in 88.

Anyone else into the FIXX back then?

I had all of their...ummm...can I say this word on here...records. :D

Saw them in the mid-80's at the AZ ST Fair.

One Thing Leads To Another, Saved By Zero, Red Skies At Night, etc.

Brian, I STILL have all their records. IM a DJ, so vinyl is crucial. I have been scouring thrift stores for the past 5 or 6 years replacing all the vinyl I bought in the 80's taped and thensold to Zia so I could get smokes. (LOSER!) Have about 1000 Lp's, and 100 or so singles. Plus the 500+ CD's. I have found some real gems. Record shopping in NYC however is next to impossible. I paid 15 bucks for a good condition version of Motley Crues first record, Too Fast for Love, as I see it rearely, and I went back to COlorado and sure as shizza, it was at my old fave record store for 4.99. DOH!

Hilarious that you mentioned them because I was going to since yesterday, in a fit of 80s nostalgia, I listened to their Greatest Hits CD. I was surprised at the number of popular songs they had.

"All the World's a Stage" is my favorite album by Rush from that era of their careers. Love the live stuff and Working Man is killer with that HUGE drum solo. Lakeside Park has always been a fav of mine and love the sound of it on the live album.

I guess I actually have mine too.

I have all my old records still, they've just been in storage forever. We have a huge room, really two rooms with the middle wall removed, with all sorts of collectibles, games, fun stuff in it. One of the closets has all my old records in it. Coincidentally - we just got a huge new Magnavox stereo system with huge speakers, receiver, tape deck, cd player...and a phonograph. Time to check out some old tunes.

I love The Fixx! One Thing Leads to Another and Red Skies are great.

I forgot about ABC. Remember Poison Arrow? One of my favorite '80's tunes.

No '80's list is complete w/out the Go Go's.
I saw the Go Go's open for The Police at the old Compton Terrace in '82.

I also saw OMD open for The Power Station in 1985 and then I saw them open for Depeche Mode in Seattle in 1988. OMD was a big opening act in the '80's.

One of the best shows I ever saw was INXS at Mesa Amphitheater in 1986...the Listen Like Thieves tour.

How about the Cars? Hello.. hello again..... My best friends girl... and so on...

Chakka Khan, Twisted Sister, man there are lots of obscure ones from back then. I remember going rollerskating in the 7th and 8th grades, and all that damn music is still stuck in my skull!!

I can't get the song So Caught Up In You by .38 Special out of my head!
