adrenochrome theory which says people like Hillary Clinton take part in to look younger, the same people make post pictures of Hillary looking old and making comments about how bad she looks. You would think posting those pictures of Hillary alone would disprove the adrenochrome theory!

If people REALLY wanted to pay it forward, instead of buying the lunch of a person in line behind you, that can afford the meal, donate to a Food Bank :) (Which the original Pay-it-Forward, from the book, was a school project where the first pay-it-forward was for a homeless person.

And to call buying tickets to a moving pay-it-forward is a bastardization of the intent, since the people starting the movement profit financially from it.
Or maybe they could donate to… I don’t know… services that actually deal with human trafficking?!

I have no skin in the game either way but couldn’t both sides be working in bad faith? Clearly the right is over buying the same way most authors do to make The NY Times best seller. The left and owners of AMC are also trying to deny people from seeing it by either marking the theater as full or pulling a bunch of AC is broken tricks. I’ve seen at least 20 videos of move theaters where the AC is broken but only in the theater where sound of freedom is playing. I think both sides are doing shady stuff in a pissing contest.

The left does a good job at making too big of a deal of everything which has now driven interest of this movie way higher than it should, while the right thinks everything is a pissing match and care more about pissing off dems than the subject matter of the movie.

I quibble with this for a couple reasons.

1) The owners of AMC only care about one thing… MONEY. They’d be working against their own bottom line. When have you ever seen a corporation PURPOSELY affect themselves negatively from a money standpoint.

2) And while “Hollywood” is liberal, AMC ain’t Hollywood. It’s a mega-movie theater corporation that makes money, first and foremost. If they didn’t want the movie to make money, they wouldn’t keep it in their auditoriums when they could have another movie making money there, especially during their peak money making months in the summer.

Again, AMC ain’t Hollywood. Those theater owners don’t want to be giving out free tickets. That corporation isn’t looking to give freebies or monopolize a theater for no reason. Those are businesses run at both the local
and national level. Hollywood has no control over what they do.
The left does a good job at making too big of a deal of everything which has now driven interest of this movie way higher than it should,
I definitely think the left has made this movie a bigger deal with its response, but the Box office to start is what made this movie a big deal in the first place. but there’s been plenty of right wing movies that came and went like a fart in the wind despite the left bashing them.
while the right thinks everything is a pissing match and care more about pissing off dems than the subject matter of the movie.
Can’t argue there.

And AMC was hit HARD by the pandemic, so it's not exactly breaking news that they don't want to give away their product for free.

Are there enough of these people to be concerned? I pretty much see our society rolling along the same way. I am not seeing high level take over of our country by Qanon, but I am not a Qanon follower either.
Some of the most vocal politicians are Q psychophants. I don’t know how much more a country can be taken over by conspiracy theorists than by having them serve as members of Congress, governors and members of state legislature.

No offense Yuma, but have you missed the last 7 years of our country’s politics?

I assume you don’t believe in coincidences that over 20 AMC theaters have had AC issues or screening issues just when it’s related to the screening of this movie. Maybe it is not coming down from AMC corporate maybe it is coming from individual managers at different locations who don’t agree with the politics.

I also assume they won’t lose money because technically they will still do the showing so no refund plus as you pointed out all the tickets are paid for by other people so these free ticket people have no refund to get.

Another salient point.

And it’s not like movies are doing great right now. Multiple Mega-Franchises have failed MISERABLY this summer at the domestic box office and that’s hurting movie theaters also.

But with a “bonafide” hit, the corporate overlords and even local theaters managers who’s jobs are dependent on theaters being full… are fridging a successful film?

If Sound of Freedom is so successful, why make it free to watch at all? After all, the right wants to continually push that it's a movie that has nothing to do with any political agenda, why isn't it being treated as one?

We are in the midst of a blazing summer heat wave. Air conditioning breaks. Happens in the valley in LA all the time. You just don’t hear about it because… it happens all the time.

Also, you’re taking the tiktokers word that their theaters are the ONLY ones where the AC has effected them. And again, we’re talking about what… 20 theaters out of 1000s.
Maybe it is not coming down from AMC corporate maybe it is coming from individual managers at different locations who don’t agree with the politics.
so, those individuals managers are fridging the movie and hurting their own bottom line? Those managers jobs depend on ticket sales and concessions. People value their own job security over anything else in this world. In a summer where the movies haven’t been gangbusters, local managers spiking their own business and putting their own jobs at risk when there is a bonafide smash makes very little sense to me.

I also assume they won’t lose money because technically they will still do the showing so no refund plus as you pointed out all the tickets are paid for by other people so these free ticket people have no refund to get.
When a movie is canceled for air conditioning or other issues, AMC not only refunds the ticket but usually ALSO usually gives a voucher for your next movie. So they are losing money DOUBLE when they cancel these movies.

They aren’t cancelling the movie they are just telling people that there is no AC and still showing the movie. Also it is only that theater that has no AC all the others are working. It is coming from the AMC attendants being filmed giving the news to the people in the seats before the movie is shown. I’m just saying what I’ve seen same way you have previously, up to you to believe what you want.

Im certainly not on the inside of movies. Never have been. But when I worked at AMC for 3 years as a teenager our GM patently told us that AMC made damn near zero money on ticket sales. That the revenue for the theater itself was on concessions. Seemed funky to me but had no way to disprove it at the time. Was that true back then? Have things changed? Negotiations different? Do you think he was saying to get us to upsale harder and increase his bonuses lol??? I truly don’t know.

Still true. Theaters only get about 40% of the box office receipt. After the overhead of the location and showing the film there's little left if profit. The concessions are almost pure profit though. With the bulk they buy in, it's costing them pennies for the $5 coke and $7 popcorn.

So all the people posting on social media are lying? Come on now. Four minutes before a show and that theater is going to fill up? All the other stories posted on social media about having mostly empty theaters. Someone I know went to a 70% full theater even though it was sold out. Give me a break. Plus the show I was listening to on the radio said they were told churches were buying tickets in bulk to support Angel studios. Smoke and all............................

P.S. My neighbor is a church going Christian, ex-military Conservative. I guess they are in on it too.
Most churches and Christians would look into the film rather than blindly supporting/promoting it.

It's labeled a "faith-based film," but there really wasn't much faith in it (maybe 5 references, like I said after I saw it), and it features a Catholic actor playing an LDS real-life person and the studio putting it out there is a Utah-based studio founded by LDS brothers. Not exactly something most Christian churches would jump behind. Maybe Catholic and LDS churches, but they are viewed differently by many other faiths (evangelical, non-denominational, etc.) because of differences in theology and inclusion of non-biblical texts, etc.

We know a lot of people who really got into the series The Chosen. It's a series about the life of Jesus. But then once they learned it was produced and put out there by Angel Studios and they discovered all of the LDS connections a lot of those people just stopped watching it. The show has three consultants which review and advise the filmmakers as they go along - Messianic rabbi Jason Sobel, Catholic priest Father David Guffe, and professor of New Testament at Biola University Dr. Doug Huffman. Still, many Christians hear of any LDS connection, and they check out.

Right… but if the theaters ARENT selling any tickets to these movies and are purposefully keeping those theaters closed, guess what they’re also not making money on… CONCESSIONS because they are limiting the amount of people in the theaters.

Again, that makes ZERO sense/cents.

Brian where you have you been since 2016? Are you kidding me? We see countless examples of the religious Right blindly following since then. This is the very audience targeted.

No they are staying thinking they are making a political stand, it’s very easy to find these videos. I’ll even attach one. If you don’t believe it I don’t know what to tell you.

Meanwhile, the studio who made the film and makes money off the film says this latest conspiracy theory from the Q-Nuts is COMPLETE BS.

But hey… I guess the studio… you know… who makes MONEY on this movie’s ticket sales, wouldn’t have a dog in this fight if AMC’s all over the country were sabotaging its movie.

Who exactly are you arguing with here? Can you show me an instance where I supported the film or the studio? I get you’re so biased you are blinded from seeing 2 sides of a coin but how does ranting against someone who isn’t your enemy help you? You know it can be factual that it is bad that the people behind this believe in Q-Anon AND there are people who would enjoy making it hard for people to see this film. The statements are not mutually exclusive.

Just like I can say I hate Tom Cruise and his “religion” of Scientology and what they do to kids and people who leave but Mission Impossible is a great movie. You can point to any Tom Cruise film as promoting Scientology since he is the face of it. Scientology is just as bad as Q-Anon if not worse. People who believe in Q-Anon are just weirdos who believe in conspiracy theories, people who believe in scientology are weirdos who believe in conspiracy theories who also treat people like slaves and may have murdered people.

If you can honestly say to yourself there is a zero percent chance that someone(the singular not the corporation) would mess with a theater to F with the trump loving right then we are too far apart from having a rational conversation. The managers of these theaters are making like no money and are college kids. You think they care if AMC loses money? They are the same kids who bought AMC on robinhood as a meme stock.
