Question - Is Manning's "aw shucks" demeanor for real? (i. Is he a grab a burger at Mickey D's kinda guy? Or is he more into the High Life his money affords him)?

How would this play into his preference for a South Beach lifestyle vs. an Indianapolis lifestyle vs. a NYC lifestyle vs. an Arizona lifestyle.

And, most important, would it be likely to influence where he might play?

I think what you see is what you get. Of course, I felt the same way about that nice guy who used to play running back for the Bills forty years ago.

Guess where Peyton flew to after his news conference yesterday? Glendale?

No, actually it was Miami. This article says Miami is very confident of their chances of landing him. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/08/2681590/miami-dolphins-very-confident.html

But check out what Peyton says about the various teams:

Peyton Manning flew to South Florida on Wednesday shortly after he and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay announced Manning’s departure from the team.
The Dolphins hope he will stay here for good.

Manning, who flew here because he has a condo on South Beach, was released at 4 p.m. Wednesday, immediately making him available to sign with any team. The Dolphins’ pursuit, which is already underway, will ratchet up in the next few days as the most coveted-free agent in NFL history decides which teams to engage in serious discussions and which teams to possibly work out for.

Manning stopped for TV cameras upon arriving in Miami Beach and was asked about his interest in the Dolphins. “I have no idea who wants me, what team wants me,” he said. “I literally have not had one conversation with anybody about these teams. I haven’t thought about teams.”

Asked by WSVN-Fox 7 what he would tell Dolphins fans who want him to be the next Dan Marino, Manning said, “Well, it’s certainly flattering. Dan Marino is my all-time favorite quarterback after my dad and my brother. He’s No. 3…. The Miami Dolphins have a great organization, great history. They have new people in place. We have no idea what teams are interested.”

Asked whether it would be appealing to play with Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush, Manning didn’t answer directly but said both are “studs.”

Big shock that Manning flew to his house which happens to be in Miami. Non story.

I have said for awhile, Manning will want this done quickly, and before free agency starts. This allows the number of potential teams to be maximized which he will leverage into a very good contract. It pressures teams to sign him as is, without the drama of him having to throw for each and every team. Finally, it allows him to maximize his influence on other FAs desire to go to the team he is on.

Long story short, Manning knows where he wants to go. Will listen to all offers, and then leverage the teams on his short list to see which will come closest to meeting his demands.

He does frequent one of Indianapolis's finest steakhouses, St. Elmos, FWIW.

But if he is the type who likes to grab a burrito at Filberto's, Arizona has the inside track.

No man should actually like to grab anything at Filiberto's. It's the only Mexican food I can honestly remember disliking after a night of drinking.

If Houston made a move after him I think it would be a lock. Dome, receiver, running game, Oline, great defense, established coach, warm weather and a division he obviously knows well.

But... it does sound like they want to move forward with Schuab. And they did make it into the 2nd round with TJ Yates, so maybe they can win with Schuab.

Everyone's harping on the breakfast stuff... which I admit, I've never tried. I guess I was spoiled, coming from Vegas, where Roberto's is the 24 hour late night fare of legend. It's amazing.

Next time I find myself drunk in Phoenix, I'll coerce someone to taking me in for a breakfast burrito.
