Win or lose this has been a good game, the defense has held their own and Brock is showing he deserves more playing time.

BTW, Sullivan.....dear God! lol

Still happy with the way the guys played...Outside of Sullivan of course. D played out of their minds minus that one play early in the second half, and deserved a win. There were some big time recruits there tonight, the two biggest of which are defensive players, so thankfully they got to see a good showing from our D.

Osweiler didn't light the world on fire today but he's got to be the man for the rest of the year. He can actually make throws, he throws it hard, can throw it far, and can make some plays with his legs unlike Danny.

Danny was -7 points for ASU, Brock was +6, that ought to be the end of this nonsensical debate. We all knew what the right thing to do was weeks ago but our geriatric coaches couldn't get over themselves and do the right thing. Imagine what could've happened if Brock had been getting starts and first team practice reps, maybe we beat Cal and SC, we'll never know but we know this idiotic sticking with Sullivan crap was a bad plan.

Agree, this season is going nowhere. Brock has potential and he was thrown to the wolves tonight. ASU's defense is solid and if Brock can grow in the system ASU could be a contender when he is a Junior.

I say that because I don't expect much next year either, maybe a lower tier bowl at best.

Hang on to your hats because heard today they're mulling over starting Sullivan again and bringing Brock in the second quarter. Or some such thing. Basically, not wanting to throw Brock to the wolves in Eugene.

That makes perfect sense. It's much better to play the Freshman when the Offense is 3-5 scores down, rather than even... I seriously don't understand why the sympathy for Sullivan. I'm sure he is a nice guy and all, but he isn't good, he isn't close to anything that would resemble good. He is the most inaccurate quarterback I have ever seen play Division 1 football.

This season is just a waste. I'm so disappointed in the effort that has been given by the coaching staff to develop our quarterback replacement for Rudy (and that failure began 2 years ago). It was known that Sullivan had little talent... that has been known for years. They should have had a plan in place; instead they have an injured player and a true freshman - both of which can't get on the field based on some 'unseen' value of Sullivan. It's just disgusting.

I don't know what happened in the locker room at halftime, but from what I hear, Sullivan lost it. One of those "keep it in the family" moments that no one will discuss. This was before Erickson announced a switch. Maybe was the deciding factor.

Yeah, I'm not sure what Erickson is thinking here if he starts Sully unless he's trying to get fired or something. Oz is going to have to play at a tough venue at some point.

It's mostly recruiting. Sullivan, Szkascky, Stangel, and Elway (the latter three being DE's first three QB recruits) aren't Pac-10 caliber talents so relying on a freshman only makes sense.

Not surprising. The kid can't play but he's being somewhat unfairly thrown under the bus by his coach for the program's widespread recruiting failures. And many people around ASU said before the season that Sully didn't have the mental makeup to withstand such criticism. Too nice of a guy is what I heard.

Really? Szkascky was looking to be the starter this year before his elbow problems flared back up. He was offered by SC, Stanford, Illinois, Purdue and Ole Miss. If he could've stayed healthy he would be playing, its not his 'talent' keeping him off the field.

Was at the game and as much as I despise Sullivan as a starter, and believe he belongs up at NAU - maybe, it was sad to hear how the crowd treated the kid.
Still, he is so terrible it's understandable. Brock didn't light up the world either, but anyone with an ounce of football intellect could immediately see the difference in skill and ability between Brock and Sullivan.

Sullivan had some of his best and worst moments in the USC game. Early in the game he twice looked off the safety and McGaha to the sideline to hit Williams on the drive that led to the field goal. But most of the first half he was locked onto the left side of the field leading the secondary to the pass, which is what led to the pick six. He was also way late on his delivery, as he has been most of the year. It takes sooooo long between the time he makes a decision to the time the ball leaves his hand.

Brock is far more decisive and has a quicker delivery, although he has similar footwork issues to Sullivan. Taller QBs all have footwork issues. It's in the stride. At least Brock keeps the ball at a higher resting point so his accuracy doesn't suffer as much. We'll see. I think he's going to throw a few picks this year trying to make things happen. His hasn't figured out what to do against mixed coverage yet, and on third down he's ignoring the safer check down patterns.

Still wish Samson's shoulder would heal up, because he's by far the most accurate QB of the three and offers more upside right now for the offense.

Most likely the latter... I hope I never have to stand by those Yankee fans in the student section again. I really dislike Sully, but they were cheering for him to get hurt. When it gets to that point, some of the students really have me ashamed to be there..

This is yet another game we should've taken. With Brock at QB we probably would be 7-2, or at least would've had that Georgia game and be looking forward to a probable bowl game. I don't know what Erickson is thinking...It is the receiver's fault too. McGaha, and at times Robinson, have been the only two making the catches. Williams is fast, but has bricks for hands. It drives me crazy.

If that's a reference to the booing when Pedroia was out there, they weren't booing him. Some genius just decided to have Dustin be introduced at the same time as the Trojans were running out onto the field.

Agree with the rest of what you said though.

No... I am in the student section so when I hear people say F the Red Sox, screw him....I know it was towards Pedroia, haha. Some were booing him and I felt that was just so stupid..I had the displeasure of sitting next to those "fans." And I hate hearing people cheer for someone to get hurt like they were doing.

OK. I'm not in the student section anymore so I just figured they were booing USC like the people in my section were. They should have introduced him at a different time.

They should have. I know some were booing USC. I just picked the worst possible place to be in the section...
