For Chillicothe baseball, 2025 will be about improving on an 8-19 record last season and that starts with the strength of its pitchers. The Cavaliers return 97% of their pitchers from last season.
Meanwhile, Huntington finished second in the Scioto Valley Conference and have several seniors returning to the team that was also sectional champions.

Tom Barr returns for his fifth year in coaching at Chillicothe High School (his ninth year overall). The Cavaliers finished fourth in the Frontier Athletic League last season.
Cavaliers only had three players that graduated from last year.
Returning letterwinners include Mason Brown (RHP/SS/CF), who is a four-year starter and has committed to playing at Ashland University. Last year he went 3-2 on the mound with 2.79 ERA, 48 Ks in 42.2 IP. Offensively, he was their best player in 2024 with a .346 AVG, 6 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 1 HR, 13 RBIs, and 18 SBs.
Trent Wade (RHP) is also a four-year starter. He went 3-5 on the count with 41.2 IP, 3.696 ERA, 45 Ks in 41.2 IP. On offense, he had a .282 AVG, 4 2Bs, and one home run.

Class of 2028 prospects:
"It’s been an offseason full of growth, and we’re eager to see how that translates when the season kicks off," Barr said. "Our senior leadership is consistently improving, and the players are fired up to hit the field this spring. We’re bringing back 97% of our pitching staff from last season, and everyone knows it’s going to be a battle for those precious innings on the mound. The competition is fierce, and that only makes us better."
Coach Chad Carroll is in his eighth year and will be leading the Huntsmen who finished second in the Scioto Valley Conference last season. In addition, Huntington (20-7) was the sectional champion and district runner-up.
Key losses from last year's squad are Braylon Leach, DJ Crocker, Mitchell Willis, John Black, Isaiah Schmidt and Mav Smith.
Returning letterwinners include senior Braydon Elliott who is a pitcher and plays first base. He was honorable mention All-SVC and honorable mention All-Distict. Seniors Seth Throckmorton (shortstop/pitcher) and Matthew Jordan (third and first base) also return. Junior Andrew Oyer, a junior, returns as a pitcher/outfielder. He was second-team All-SVC and second-team All-District.
Sophomores Frankie Hirsch and Landon Lowery will be in the infield. Lowery is also a pitcher and a catcher.
