Couldn't ask for much more. Got to see Ginosebleed live up to his name, Dirk choke, both teams beat each other up and Dallas eventually lose.

Short of someone walking to center court and dividing by zero...
If not for dirk the mavs would have lost by 20 lol. but he gets labled a choke. poor guy.

I loved dirk's aggressiveness in this game. He was physical and put his team on his back. unfortunately he had no help from his team or coach. it would have been nice to have another forward on the court and maybe a real shooting guard.

Reminds me of the Suns/Spurs match ups. Doesn't matter what Nash and Amare do if everyone else is crapping all over the court.

So who you picking in the Portland vs Dallas series?

Steve

Either way(responding to the last two posts here)

I would not get too high or low about any playoff series, including this one, unless the spurs get a strangle hold on the mavs with a win tonight. Even then I wouldn't say it's completely over. We tend to get too bi-polar with this playoff games forgetting that battles are won and lost in a war.

With all the Mavs has gotten better defensively talk, Parker is just having his way in the paint. Dampier has to be the dumbest center in the league

Well, as for my post I was mildly mocking the tendency of some people here to call a series based on the most recent outing. And you're right, none of these series have been decided yet (in the west anyway).

this is the only tough first round matchup. of corse they look beatable when they are beating up on each other. it will be totally different for the suns when they are playing a tough matchup. even if it is the nuggets or jazz the suns will have their hands full in the next round against a team that can actually score the ball.

Haha this is the only tough first round matchup?

All these teams are 50+ win teams.

Phoenix and Portland actually had the best records in the NBA since the allstar game which would lead me to believe that those were the best 2 teams going into the playoffs.

Just because it is the Mavs and Spurs doesn't mean this is any more high quality basketball than the other series. It is pretty ugly and the Mavs show that they are far from the team they want to be getting beat by a Spurs team without much contribution from Duncan in an almost elimination type game.

Portland is going to prepare us well for the next series if we advance because they have the 2nd best frontcourt in the West right now with Aldridge and Camby and Batum.

If you were paying attention Steve you would see that I was "mildly mocking" greensborohill for calling a Mavs series win after game 1. Portland-Phoenix is an absolute toss-up after what I saw in game 4. I have no idea which Suns team we are going to get after that. I didn't recogonize that team and if it happens again in game 5 we are just about done.

I was paying attention. I just thought it deserved a little more mocking.

As for our series being a toss-up, I hope you're wrong but I fear you're right. If Roy is able to play back to his level our only advantage might be home court and that's a pretty thin line. Still, I like our chances a bit better than I like Portland's. Gentry has promised to play the 2nd team more so maybe we'll see some of what we all witnessed for most of this season.
