Yay! A guy who couldn't beat Charlie Batch out of a job!
I wouldn't confuse the Charlie Batch who played for the Lions with the one that now plays for the Steelers. He's a great number #2 and fits really well into what they're doing.

I also am cognizant of the fact that Leinart still has a visible bone lump on his shoulder (per Urban)..and Warner, last seen raising 5 lb. weights on training day, is one hit from retirement.
If you're referring to the pic on the official site, it's an exercise called the scarecrow and it's done with very light weight intentionally. Warner's elbow seems to be further along than I would have guessed if he's doing shoulder shrugs like that in the picture.

I like that both Warner and Leinart are there on day one of the workouts. I think this will be a really good offseason for the Cardinals.

Breaking the routine is a very standard practice when conditioning for endurance and durabilty for periodization training. The strength training gets integrated for few weeks and then a short stint of "girlie weights" with LOTS of reps (40-50) to enhance endurance... try it, it is not so easy! I was in the "girlie weight" phase at the gym a month ago and one of my friends handed me the pink weights from the aerobics room... message clear!

Should we just change the team name to the Stealers? :lame:

I think during the WWII years we were the Cardinals/Steelers. We combined the teams due to a shortage of players. Just a continuation of what started over 60 years ago. What goes around comes around.

No need to tell me. I have the endurance of a soap bubble.

I think it's all too common to think these guys are all of fictional strength because they're in the NFL. I doubt if Montana was much of a power lifter.

Interesting tidbit from Mitch on a July 5, 2007 article on ASFN:

Keep an eye on Brian St. Pierre, a player that Whiz had been grooming in Pittsburgh. St. Pierre has some Tom Brady type qualities. He doesn’t overly impress you with his size or arm strength, but he hangs tough in the pocket, he’s cool under fire and makes smart decisions. If St. Pierre becomes available, Whiz may very well swoop him up.

St. Pierre isn't good either.

This is basically Shane Boyd 2.0.

1944 - The Cardinals and the Steelers were granted permission to merge for one year under the name Card-Pitt, April 21. Phil Handler of the Cardinals and Walt Kiesling of the Steelers served as co-coaches.

Huh, how about that. You learn something new every day. Of course, the Steagles happened too ;)

Philadelphia and Pittsburgh were granted permission to merge for one season, June 19. The team, known as Phil-Pitt (and called the Steagles by fans), divided home games between the two cities, and Earle (Greasy) Neale of Philadelphia and Walt Kiesling of Pittsburgh served as co-coaches. The merger automatically dissolved the last day of the season, December 5.

Same page.

No kidding. Just think about it for a few minutes. If they hadn't been this crazy and out-of-the-box in their thinking, we might have a league without the Steelers, the Eagles, or the Cardinals. Mind boggling.

Have we morfed into closet steelers? If we sign up any more Steeler players they might as well call us Steeler West. :)
