Interesting tidbit from Mitch on a July 5, 2007 article on ASFN:

http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/2007/07/cardinals-pre-camp-qb-analysis/

I have no doubt Mitch knows about Le Foo Foo Pierre.. He's one of the few people on this board I believe when they evaluate or have an opinion about a player on this board.. But some of these other folks with so strong opinions about players I have to question.. It just feels like they read a quick article that has said player and the Cards in it and they then form an opinion right then and there.. Then they wanna scream fuss and fight with others that they know exactly what going on.. lol..

Ok seriously.. I dont claim to be the biggest football watcher out there, and I watch alot.. But how can alot of people have a judjement on this guy? Ive never heard this guys name more than twice in my life much less know what he can or cant do on a football field..

I remember him very well from his Boston College days. He was a Notre Dame killer and constantly elevated BC to perform better than their overall talent level. Always played bigger in big games.

What I didn't know is he started out as Tim Hasselbeck's backup and ended up the 3rd most prolific passer in BC history.

He's smart and calm under pressure. Even if he doesn't have an NFL starter's caliber arm, which might be the case, or if he's smallish, which might be true, I like the signing because he knows the Whisenhunt system.

All he has to learn are the tweaks and add-ons Todd Haley put in to take advantage of our WRs.

Good enough for me. Sure would be nice to have someone who can step in that we didn't hire off the street 10 minutes ago.;)

Unfortually for the cardinals they only signed one starter, Haggans.

Aside for a name or two...I would totally take exception to that. Under our cap situation would you like to roll the dice for hard three and pay Asante the money he got??? Not me. I'll take my chances and bring a hand full of guys in and find someone pretty okay and pay the Wilsons, Greens of the world.

How about paying Pace the money he got as a F/A. You realize if someone(s) in the front office gave him a guaranteed 20 million USD contract we would breadk the Guiness book of records for the most pages posted on a thread.

So far excellent pickups through other teams cuts and our F/A signings.

As expected, the Cardinals added a third quarterback to the roster Monday.

Brian St. Pierre, a five-year veteran who worked with Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt when Whisenhunt was the Steelers’ offensive coordinator, was signed to a one-year contract. He is third on the depth chart behind Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner.

But even with St. Pierre in place, general manager Rod Graves said it did not close the door on the possibility of bringing back 2007 third-string quarterback Tim Hasselbeck.

The Cards also re-signed safety/special teamer Matt Ware with a two-year contract Monday, continuing to fill their roster depth.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound St. Pierre has thrown just one regular-season pass in the NFL after spending four seasons in Pittsburgh and one with Baltimore.

Last season, Whisenhunt attempted to have just two quarterbacks on the active roster, although the plan was derailed when Leinart and Warner suffered injuries in back-to-back games.

Whisenhunt has said he wasn't sure whether he would carry two or three quarterbacks this season.

Ware had 12 tackles on defense and another seven on special teams in 2007.

The Cardinals are still looking to re-sign more of their own free agents such as safety Oliver Celestin, cornerback Ralph Brown and defensive lineman Rodney Bailey.

The Cards are also still talking with free-agent linebacker Matt Stewart, who most recently has been with Cleveland.

What? Why in the world would we only carry two? Ugh. I may find religion and pray to God that we carry three QBs in 2008.

I think during the WWII years we were the Cardinals/Steelers. We combined the teams due to a shortage of players. Just a continuation of what started over 60 years ago. What goes around comes around.

 That team was 0-12!

On the other hand, just 3 years later the Cards were NFL Champions. :koolaid:
