Just wondering what you all think of the idea of the Cardinals displaying their NFL championships in the new place. Sure - the 1947 game should be a no-brainer, but that infamous 1925 season brought The Curse. Not sure if they should even acknowledge that one.

The team's only goal at this point should coincide with the direction they want to head: forward. If the Cardinals' goal is to leave its losing culture behind than it's got to start from last Sunday. To be proud of it's past accomplishments would also admit that they are too few and far between. New stadium, new players, new Cardinals.

I don't think so, in the current incarnation of the NFL there isn't much that is celebrated prior to Super Bowl I

Does any team have banners up for victories before the first Super Bowl?

Convenient memory, I think. For the majority of teams, nothing exists to celebrate prior to the '60s.

But if we're going to ignore the past, then the Ring of Honor is unnecessary, at least as far as most of the names up there are concerned. Sure they should acknowledge those championships...both of them.

As to the so-called controversy of 1925, if you read the history, the winner of the NFL championship in 1925 was the Chicago Cardinals. Yes, they scheduled two games after playing Pottsville against easy teams, but even throwing out the game that included four high schoolers, Pottsville was already out of the league (after getting three warnings, greed won out over following rules, so Pottsville knew what they were doing). Besides, playing hastily arranged games was no more troubling than Pottsville scheduling six of their wins against opponents who had just played games one day before meeting Pottsville.

I don't think they should. It means nothing to Arizonans.
Win something here...then hang the banner.

All for it, including division and conference championship. Hell yes. I'd like to see the ones from 74 and 75 when they won the NFC East and anything else. They belong to us. We earned them. Put em up for all to see. ASAP.

How about the "third place" victory after the 1964 season?

It's been mentioned as a Playoff win in the past on this board, but in reality, it was considered an exhibition game.

Between the the 1960 and 1969 seasons, the NFL used to hold these "Playoff Bowl" games that pitted the runners-up in each conference. The games were held at the Orange Bowl in Miami each year. On January 3, 1965, the Cardinals defeated the Packers 24-17 to win the consolation prize.

Great article about this on Wikipedia...check out the quotes by Coach Lombardi - classic stuff:

I say all titles won should be recognized, for the past and future. League, conference and division championships.

Nothing for wildcard appearances because you didn't win anything. You just made the playoffs.

I don't think anyone referred to it as a "playoff" win just a postseason victory.

Great for winning bets with other fans about the number of Cardinals "postseason" wins.
