The Suns have dismissed Robin Pound, an assistant coach in charge of strength and conditioning for the past 12 seasons.

Colangelo confirmed that Pound's contract was not renewed but would not comment further.

"We're going to make some changes in how we go about that process," Colangelo said. "We're going to restructure the approach. (Assistant athletic trainer) Casey Smith is going to be part of that."

Pound joined the Suns for the 1991-92 season after serving as the strength and conditioning coach at California from 1987-91.

This article made me vent...you forgot some of the other important changes. First...Al McCoy is not going to call the games on TV anymore....that really makes me mad....he will call them on the radio broadcast. Tom Leander will call the away games. Since the only time I listen to the radio is during a major cable breakdown I will miss his voice and his old fashion sayings we were brought up with. No, I am not going to turn off the TV sound and listen to the radio...that is a bit foolish. No mention of where Eddie Johnson will be. Leander is a good Joe and is a good broadcaster....but boy, oh boy, I personally will miss Al.

Something bad must have happened to get rid of Robin... Remember when Proski was let go, there were rumors BC and him were not in the best relationship or something. Pound also does the Mercury's conditioning. What the heck is going on in this organization in the background. I am sure it was not just a pay dispute...but then maybe Pound wanted a raise doing both male and female BB and they said no and stopped negotiations. Sometimes I wonder about this organization. They don't mind releasing or waiving players and pay them millions and losing all that cash, yet they are hard strapped for money. Something or someone must be mad at Pound for some reason....a player? too many injuries? recommmendation of player's friends to take the position??? This is a hard company to work for....not employee friendly one could say......

Hey Miner! That's because we've already discussed them in various other threads...

I personally think it's a bit ridiculous for anyone to get upset about the release of Robin Pound when we have absolutely no idea what happened. Maybe he wasn't doing a very good job?

I will also miss Al McCoy. I sure hope Eddie Johnson is still part of the TV broadcasts.

I'll miss Al McCoy's broadcasting as well, but his old-school style is certainly much better suited for radio because he paints a much clearer picture with his play-by-play than the other Suns announcers do.

A lady that I met at my nephew's birthday party, worked at one of the rehabilitation places that the Suns and DBacks use. She said that Robin Pound was the biggest ***** she had ever met.

She also said that Big Jake always tried to tell jokes, but would always screw up the punch line. Jake we are laughing AT YOU, not WITH YOU. :D
