I figured I'd have a 50% chance either the Sabres or Suns would make it to the finals, and a 25% chance both would make it...

well...

the other 25% came true.

Now I wont be watching either of the finals.

Time to start watching the dbacks......

Wow.. Talk about the entire bottle of magic being lost in one evening... this very well may be the case of the Edmonton Oilers.

Tonight, the Oil Men, who are trying to become the first 8 seed to ever win a Stanley Cup, blew a 3-0 lead and lost Game 1 5-4. The Hurricanes, trying to make their own history by winning their first Lord Stanley's Cup, completed the comeback with a Rod Brind'Amor goal with just 31.1 seconds left in regulation.

The worst news of the evening however wasn't the loss of the game however, as goalie Dwayne Roloson was lost for the remainder of the playoffs after injuring his right knee in the third period.

Needless to say, Roloson (who was acquired from Minnesota March 8) will be missed by the Oilers, and what momentum they had may have died quickly.

What a fantastic game. I was hoping that it would go to overtime, but what an awesome finish. Brind'Amour had a great game, and Cam Ward made a couple absolutely amazing saves in those last 30 seconds, when Edmonton was desperately throwing everything imaginable at him. I thought that shot that he swiftly gloved with 3 seconds left was a for sure goal.

I'm normally not a big hockey fan - but did I read correctly that the Oilers are a #8 seed? That is awesome.

Maybe I'll have to catch the next game.

Game 5 is tonight on NBC (also in HD). Carolina has a 3-1 lead and heads back to home. Would appear to be the night where the Cup will be raised in Carolina!!

This is absolute garbage. Yes, everybody rags on hockey's ratings (even though NHL on NBC isn't far behind the ratings the NBA on ABC got this year), but this is the Stanley Cup and they are showing a little smoke that doesnt pose much of a threat at this time. Yeah, like we've never seen a fire in northern Arizona before. Is there any way to contact NBC Phoenix, this is disgusting.

Now we have a little PIP of the game. Score is 1-1. Reminds me of the OJ chase during the NBA Finals, but the OJ chase was actually important and entertaining.

Ive tried about 4 different numbers for NBC 12, all of them busy. I hope whoever got through to them is chewing them out. It shouldnt take 30 minutes to deliver a news report that theres a run of the mill fire (complete with showing a couple cars off the side of a highway with a little smoke in the distance).

Carolina now up 2-1. I suspect that Carolina is going to put in 5 goals tonight like they did the last two games at home. Edmonton better score early and often.

Ok, so we are now an hour into the coverage of this fire, they havent given any new news on it in about 45 minutes, we've missed 5 goals, and I still get nothing but busy signals at NBC 12.

Edit: and then the broadcaster went into this "we have to report this for the safety of the people of Flagstaff" garbage, then comparing this to Hurricane Katrina. Yeah, this is so important, 3TV, FOX, ABC, WB, UPN, etc. havent ditched their programming.
