I think the trailer looked pretty good. But I still think it will fail because of the way they are releasing it. I think you'll see plenty of the Star Trek faithful sign up and then cancel after the series. But they have another question--is this going to be released like broadcast television, one episode a week? Or will they post all episodes? I think they'll have a lot more viewers if they post all the episodes, but I can't imagine CBS would do that since they want people to stay with their app and pay the price for it for more than a few days. ESPECIALLY if they offer some sort of 30 days free promotion.

They are posting weekly. And what sucks is it is on Netflix overseas. So if you want to watch it you have to pay an extra 10 a month for another service.

While I want to watch it, I'm not spending an extra amount especially since I already have directv, Amazon and Netflix.

Looking over the website, it looks like CBS Access is $5.99/month. Now, I wouldn't pay that for one new ST show, but it appears that with that subscription, you can access the entire ST back catalog. That would take the sting out of it for me because I would like to re-watch some of those older seasons. A lot will depend on the quality of the stream as well, but they have a free one week trial to determine that.

Other back catalog shows I might watch:

Taxi, Jericho, Victoria Secret's Fashion Show.

So if it's 12-15 episodes released weekly, we're looking at $18-24. Not too terrible really.

Just to be clear it will be one episode a week. Just like broadcast.

They know what they are doing to milk the diehard fans.

I hope it fails, at least this model. But the problem will be is that CBS probably won't see it for what it is and think that Star Trek isn't worth keeping on the air.

We'll see if the fans want to be abused by that.

Nearly every old ST TV show and film is on Netflix as part of this deal. No need to get All Access for your Trek fix.

Not to mention BBC America has been broadcasting TOS, Generations and Voyager for quite a while now, along with showing the movies a few times every month or so.

No way i'm paying for CBS even for Discovery. The episodes will be torrent posted a day or so later anyways.

True but I might do it for the entire run of Taxi. Last I checked, a few of the absolute best Taxi episodes were not available on Hulu.

I've got everyone of those series and movies on Blu-ray now (except for DS9 and Voyager, which may never get remastered)...also have the new movies on BD - including Into Darkness on UHD 4K BD. Oh - and Insurrection is missing there.

I still prefer physical discs over streaming (superior picture and sound)...watching TOS and being able to use the angle button on the remote to switch back forth between the original special effects and the new is a kick.

Just watched first half of pilot. Won't be paying to watch but would if it was free.

Main gripe is that if you are going to make the show so hi tech put it after Voy/DS9. ATleast enterprise tried. Just seems to dismiss pretty much everything with all the changes.

Didn't set up crew well at all.

Captain sucks but hear that it's a a non issue going forward.

It was decent. Has real potential. The problem I have is canon. They said it takes place on the original timeline but it can’t. They have already broken continuity if that is the case.

The changes to the Klingons make no sense. They had a chance to explain that away when they had all the houses together but missed that opportunity.

Also the ships are way to advanced to take place 10 years before Kirk’s timeline in the original timeline. Now if hey said this takes place in the Kelvin timeline that would make more sense.

CGI porn that focused on four uninteresting characters. One character was a plot device which allowed fanboys to practice their Klingon pronunciation; one looks exactly like the lady that comes out of the back room to yell at me every time I lose my dry-cleaning ticket; one is clearly the creation of someone dating someone in the Costume & Makeup Department; and the final character is our hero that was trained as a Vulcan but goes to great lengths in every scene to prove an emotionally unstable drama queen with impulse control issues was allowed to serve in Starfleet.

Here is the Westworld... er, new Star Trek opening sequence. I was waiting for the space suit gloves to start playing the piano.

Transporter spores will be to Star Trek what midi-chlorians were to Star Wars. Not only am I out, but I now dislike everyone involved in this project including Bryan Fuller.

I don't think you have to worry about that. Two things, in the original timeline it doesn't align to canon and in the Kelvin timeline the technology that Kahn used was different.

It's a story devise that will ultimately fail. It has to unless they are going to throw canon completely out of the window. As I understand it, this is NOT the Kelvin timeline but takes place in the original.

This doesn't appear to be about "transporting" although that may be a component. I think it's really about a biologically powered Starship (i.e. organic power/propulsion vs using Dilithium crystals). I think they are setting this up to be a conflict between military goals vs the Federation directives. If you have a biologically-powered Starship, in essence destroying life to give you the edge at any cost that is against the principles of the Federation. It appears the Captain is already "collecting" what he can to weaponize the Federation.

If the above is the intent, it's very Star Trek and nothing like the Star Wars debacle.

All I know is CBS All Access sucks. It is slow to load, it continually crashes, and it can't seem to keep track of where I am when I stop mid-episode. They shouldn't develop original programming on such a flimsy platform.

I have read that. I guess I have been lucky. I have not experience any issues streaming so far. Crossing fingers.
