Star Wars Show by Jon Favreau

Lucasfilm announced this morning that Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon favreau has signed on to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform.

That will be a big draw for people hesitant to pony up for yet ANOTHER streaming service dedicated to just one Studio's IPs.

I like Favreau a lot, but my lord... is Star Wars EVER going to entrust it's franchise to anyone but white guys? The lack of diversity in their directors/writers at this point is kind of a joke.

Not because of Favreau. I'm not about to start subscribing to 5,000 individual streaming services on top of cable. We let that kind of model get a foothold, and we (the consumers) are even more boned than we are now.

Kind of where I thought you were going. I really really wanted to see the new Stargate series but I couldn’t justify that streaming service just for that show. In my home my wife and kids are Disney fanatics so I will probably make an exception with this one. The show will be a bonus.

Disney is starting their own streaming service. All Disney content will be eventually exclusive to that streaming service.

Similar to Netflix. Although they plan on creating streaming original shows (aka Star Wars) and movies as well as be the all in one stop shop for all of the Disney properties (TV shows and movies).
