I had no idea.
Sorry, that came off a little more snarky than I intended too. I had just noticed her name in the previous tweet that was posted and was trying to joke back on your post while filling everyone in. I'm assuming most people don't know.

I wonder what this actually means. Are they minor characters bigger characters from the extended universe? Interesting.

Apparently this was shot on mostly practical sets like Andor and didn’t use the Volume (the entirely green screened sets) like Mando/Ashoka/Kenobi did. That gets me a little more excited about this show.

I agree. I don't mind the usage of new tech one bit but hate when they rely too much on it (i.e. green screen or new "virtual sets"). Love to see more strategic usage of stuff like that where it makes sense and not just rely on it.

Decent so far. I wouldn't say great but then again we are only 2 episodes in. Has a ton of potential. I will say this definitely has a classic Star Wars feel to it. Things like the wipes, the sets etc. feel like classic Star Wars.

If what I'm seeing on Twitter is true... I'm gonna go ahead and skip this one.

The main star says their entire intent with this show was to make white people cry. I don't like to cry...and I prefer not to support racism... so imajus skippit.

That’s your first mistake. Twitter is a cesspool of toxic posters and misinformation. That comment was taken out of context and not about Star Wars. It was about the “The Hate U Give” which is about people who put hate out in the world without having insight into impoverished communities. It wasn’t racist at all. She was talking about the context of how people would react if they understood that perspective.

You know what is confusing in this streaming era? What is the measure of success with streaming? It's not as transparent as movie dollars. This show had a budget of 180 million dollars or around there (the old cost of blockbusters movies a ways back) which equates to about 22.5 million an episodes. Holy cow! I remember when the press made a big deal out of shows costing a million per episode. Now factor in streaming services are not so forthcoming with data or take a spin on it.

It's just so hard to pinpoint "success". Even viewership is not straight forward because we are not talking about free network TV and talking about subscriber base. It's never been fuzzier. Basically you know when it gets a second season or just gets cancelled.

Just so on brand. How dare Gay people be represented in Star Wars! Oh the horror!!!

I eagerly await you taking issue with Disney unveiling it’s newest ride, centered around, for the first time… a… GASP… BLACK PRINCESS on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

They couldn't care less about the view bombing. It all came down to ratings. If it was the lowest rated series sounds like they are getting the NETFLIX hook. I think the days of letting a show get it's legs is gone.

Those days are a long, long time ago, in a Galaxy, far, far away.

With a budget of around 200 million it makes sense.

There wouldn't be a sequel to a movie that bombed either.

Not in todays' economics but in the past many expensive shows were given time to mature and catch their legs. That simply isn't the case any longer.

I agree that shows used to have a chance to catch their legs, but not in that price range. That had the budget of a movie.

Rome on HBO was a brilliant show in it's first season, the critics loved it, but it was really expensive and got cancelled before the 2nd season was done filming, it cost too much and the ratings were not good enough... resulting in the 2nd season being rushed, cheep, trash.

This show had putrid ratings, bad reviews and was crazy expensive. It was doomed.

I don't think it's the "woke" stuff that killed this show, but more that they kinda pooped on the lore of star wars (which turned off the core fan base) and that the writing was bad, and therefore didn't bring in new viewers.

Disney rushed a lot of trash in recent years with the rights to Star Wars and has done huge damage to the brand. The Book of Boba Fett was highly anticipated and it was absolutely awful. They really need to tone down the release schedule. The first season of the Mandalorain was great, the 2nd season was okay, the 3rd was rough, Andor was phenomenal, this show stunk.

They have a similar problem with their marvel products, a severe lack of quality control. It's very boom or bust for them. They either have some high concept thing that really works on multiple levels or they're just throwing something together and hoping it has some sort of broad appeal despite obviously being of low quality.

I hope they're taking their time with Andor, I think it's one of the best things they've put out since they got the rights, but given how little they understand their audience and how rushed their concepts seem to be... I am aprehensive.
