I know, those were the best games. I still remember the replay of McCarthy falling to his knees when Dansby ran into the endzone back in 2010. Good times.
That’s the exact first thing that popped into my head when he got canned lol

McCarthy has had 3 losing seasons. 2008: 6-10, 2017: 9-7 2018: 4-6-1

He won 10 or more games 8 times in 13 seasons. Took the Packers to the playoffs 9 times, has a playoff record of 10-8 and won a Super Bowl. I mean, why would we want a successful coach here.

At the risk of sounding naive -

We should be evaluating each HC candidates on his strengths and weaknesses and expected impact on the team and its level of play rather than what his W & L was and how he did in which game vs. what team.

In other words, what would the Cards be like schematically, culturally and personnel-wise with McCarthy as HC?

Why does Pete Carmichael not get mentioned or looked at? Maybe he has and I’m unaware but he has been the Saints OC since 2009? Is that right? I know he has Brees but that offense is always productive.

9 playoff teams. Some people act like it’s easy getting too or even winning more than 1 SB. It’s really not with very few exceptions
Andy Reid has been coaching for 20 years. Been to the playoffs 13 times(going on 14 times), went to the NFC championship game 4 straight times and 5 times overall. Has a playoff record of 11-13 and 1 Super Bowl loss. There have been a slew of successful coaches who never went to a Super Bowl let alone win one and one of them coached this team and people think he belongs in the Hall of Fame. So, yeah, even getting there is tough.

Bottom line is if I’m a betting man, Wilks won’t be fired after this season which makes all of this talk nonsense by us. Especially after wining in a place we haven’t won in 72 years & the team played very hard. It could’ve very easily rolled over dead given the weather & a road game in a historic place.

I would fire Wilks, but I now believe chances are almost zero. Ugh

He may win a Super Bowl this year if Eric Berry comes back healthy

Think he's that big of a difference? I mean, they've been giving up a ton of points this year. When they play a good team, they either barely win or get beaten and they've given up points to the better teams. Look so far:

Chargers-28
Steelers-37
NE-43(L)
Rams-54(L)

They even gave up 30 to the Raiders today.

McCarthy inherited a HOF QB and a championship caliber team so it's hard to say just how good he is at coaching.

What does it mean when you have a healthy Aaron Rodgers, your job is on the line and you lose to one of the worst teams in the league? I've never thought much of him as a coach but that's just an impression and not a study. Just about anyone would be an upgrade over Wilks though so by default I'd take McCarthy if I'm the Cardinals.

Like he would choose to come here.

We are always in the bottom half of the open position choices. BA, Wiz, Wilks..... all took a while. McCarthy will be long gone. Just like Andy Reid was.

If you have a coach who struggled to connect with Aaron Rodgers's personality, why would you want him to coach your young QB in Rosen whose personality is comp'd to Rodgers?

Rodgers has become a real douchebag. Packer fans will attest to that. Is Rosen like that? I hope to God not.
