I'm a Skelton fan. But 2/10 on third down was disappointing. I don't know how much of that is on John. What I really like though is the way he steps up in the clutch. While Kolb's third down numbers are similar, in the clutch when it really mattered, he couldn't deliver. On the other hand, John delivered 2 crucial game winning/tying drives the last 2 times he started. Clutch is something you can't teach.

That's comparable to what Kolb has been able to do the last few weeks. At least with Skelton on the field I have some hope that we'll convert 3rd and 6. Kolb takes the sack on second down and it's 3rd and 12 and we're about to see the punt team

You're saying the 5 yard out route throw that the receiver has to go to his knees to catch does not fill you with confidence on 3rd and long?

Doesn't matter. By your logic Peterson helped produce points for the Rams by driving them down the field with penalties. Therefore he was only cancelling out his mistakes by scoring on the return. In fact, the Rams got two FGs on drives where Peterson committed penalties. One where his penalty cancelled out a 3rd down stop and put them in FG range. Were it not for that you can logically assume that we would have been ahead 3 points and the game may have never gone into overtime.

Also, if you are saying that the QB runs the game and has the most impact on a win or loss, well we won so by that logic Skelton deserves credit too.

So Peterson comes to +4 points for the game (7 for his touchdown and -3 for the drive where his penalty on 3rd down lead to a conversion)

and Skelton +3 points for the game (7 for TD and -4 for the 2 safeties)

No matter how you try and spin the idea behind that phrase, it all still points to the fact that Skelton and the offense was awful in that game. His 1 touchdown drive of the day does not redeem his two safeties and other questionable decisions and lack of execution. Bad is bad.
