this would be a problem even with pot legal but they really need to get pot use out of the CBA. Its a sham that dwash is out for a year but ray rice got a 1 game suspension.

I'm sure I'm not telling anybody anything they didn't already know, but the whole smelling of the marijuana thing is just the standard blanket excuse cops have learned to use for probable cause. It's the perfect excuse because it's totally subjective. There's no measurement required. As long as they state on the police report that they smelled what in their opinion smelled like marijuana, they're covered against illegal search and seizure. It continues to work because it's not like they're searching carloads of nuns. And once they find the weed, whether they really smelled it or not becomes a moot point.

What I heard was they were smoking with the windows down - they had 20 grams on them so I dont think its far fetched that they could smell the pot. Not everything is racist white cops pulling black people over for no reason.

I got pulled over for no reason all the time when I was 16. Or there's DWAB - Driving While Alec Baldwin. That guy can't ride a bike without getting arrested.

So pot possession and DUI should put Bell's suspension somewhere between domestic violence (Ray Rice 2 games) and vehicular manslaughter/DUI manslaughter (Donte Stallworth 16 games).

I would peg 6 games as the over/under for the suspension since I haven't heard of Bell getting in trouble before.

Who's presuming anything? I did begin my original statement with 'Probably'. Again, it's just looking at odds. Based on my past experience with these matters, I would put it at about 60/40. 60% DWB and the standard "I smelled marijuana eminating from the" - and 40% whatever the cop said in his report. Your numbers might vary.

Pot has a very distinctive smell. I'm sure desertdawg could smell it from a mile away. It would be like a great white shark smelling blood in the water. If desertdawg was within a block of this camero he would probably have ran it down, mooched a hit and stolen the bag of Cheetos in the back of Bells car.

So 60% of the time a cop pulls someone over they did it for a racist/biased/profiling reason vs having a real cause.

Agreed. Also the fact the were cruising around at 1:30 in the morning the night before a football game doesn't look so good in my opinion. I can't imagine Tomlin being to happy about that either.
