He built a good roster this season yes but his GM skills will be put to the test next season. Too many FA's on our current squad next season with some big decisions to make. I'll be more impressed next season if he builds as good of a roster or better. He was way overdue with all of his drafting mistakes in years past. He does excel at making trades & signing FA's so time will tell. I'm interested in Chandler Jones, what's gonna happen there? Does he let him walk & try & bring Reddick back at a cheaper price or go elsewhere for an OLB? Again, lots of decisions. The cap will go up.

For what its worth
SK has done an exceptional job this year.
We are lucky to have him.
A few weeks ago, everyone loved him, now after a few bad loses he sucks??
No !
He has built a great team.
They will prove it in the weeks to come.
Put me in this camp. I think he has done a great job, all things considered.

I wanna see if he's still fully backing this painful defense. I think, even if we somehow scrape together a solid end of season run, and a playoff win or two, he has to look seriously ar changing direction with the defense.

He's been awful in the past. I thought he was awful this offseason, then we began winning with the players he brought in. Awesome! I certainly cut him a break and gave him a ton of kudos. Trouble is, those players are starting to misfire/break down/get injured. Will he be proven a fraud yet again because he signed players that couldn't contribute for a full season, or will they collectively bounce back and raise the team again heading into the playoffs--if we get there? Time will tell.

Keim got the players that we needed to win. Problems are with the coaching of KK and VJ. Those two need to be evaluated in the off season and replaced if we blow the rest of the season like last year. MB will keep Keim as GM.
Keim has spent more premium picks on Inside Linebackers than he has on the OL & DL. He absolutely should be replaced as well.

I have Howie Roseman to compare him to, so yes. Paint me a Keim supporter. I feel he at least doesn't have a "smartest guy in the room complex". That works for me. He has a very tough job and does it fairly well IMO. Accountable for his mistakes, and tries to correct them. That's what a fan base wants.

I know it has been ugly to watch the last two games but Keim looks at big picture.

Our defense still ranks as a top 10 defense. Number 7. Look up top 10 defense rankings or 2021 defensive rankings if you don't believe me.

I know nobody wants to hear anything good about the team right now after Detroit. But by every measure, at least so far, the team has improved for the 3rd straight year.

There will be no house cleaning of Keim or coaches. Now, the roster could change a LOT because of what Shane was posting above.

Calling it now, Reddick will get more than Jones. He proved last year wasn't a fluke and shown he can play in a 3-4 & 4-3 so he's not limited to certain teams plus he will be 28 at the start of next season so he is just entering his prime.

I don't think ARZ will break the bank in FA, not with a Murray extension on the horizon. Money available for not re-signing Jones would go to our own FA's, we would look for 1 year bargains like last year with Conner & Green. I could see ARZ trying to extend Murphy and Kirk before they have a chance to become too expensive.

CB, OLB & OL (someone who can play both OT & OG) are how I see our first 3 draft picks shaking out. Rounds 5 -7 will be DL depth.

In my book the jury is still out with him. For all the hoopla with the Watt signing he ended up playing in just 7 games this season. The Conner signing was probably his best move for 2021. Conner has been able to dodge the injury bug that plaque him in previous years. Green has been a so so signing at this point, neither bad nor great. What concerns me the most is the next two seasons when a bunch of the teams free agents hit the market in both 2022 and even more in 2023. How is he going to not only afford to pay all those slots but fill them? Is he going to continue with the one year injury prone rentals? A fair number of them are some of the younger players on the team.

You have Jones, Conner, Edmonds, Green, Ertz, Williams, Lee, Kirk, McCoy, Alford and Brewer all coming up in 2022 and in 2023 you have K. Murray, Watt, Humphries, Hudson, Pugh, J. Murray, Beacham, Murphy, Hicks, Prater, Phillips, Golden, Allen, D. Thompson and J. Thompson, and Vallejo all hitting the open market. Almost your entire starting Oline is unsigned unless you can find a way to extend some contracts before then and K. Murray is going to want a 5-6 year $240 to $260 million contract.

There will be a lot of holes to fill over the next two years and some positions which will be essentially empty in 2022 like RB and TE. Has Keim sold the future for immediate success?
It will certainly be interesting to see how all these contracts and positions will be handled in th next two years.

He's been great with trades, hit or miss on free agents and downright bad at drafting.

It's really tough for the first 2 to make up for the last 1. Only 2 of his last 6 first rounds picks saw the field last Sunday, and none of them were out due to injury. The lack of depth is also showing up yet again. This team will never be consistently successful until they start drafting better.

So true. That's the one thing I think Keim sucks at or maybe it's just been bad luck? Drafting. There were many opinions as to whom to draft the last 2 years but I liked both picks, Simmons & Collins. I just think the VJ system is too complicated for both players. People have been up & down on VJ since he got here, more down than up. I've been down to lukewarm but never really up. Keim built depth on the DL in last year's draft & then signed Watt, that along with drafting ILB's 2 straight drafts is definitely building the defense. We need him to find another top notch CB & figure out why the VJ system sucks at stopping the run? Every place VJ has coached his defenses have sucked at rush defense. Bronco & Dolphin fans always complained about it & now we've realized they're right. Something has to change. It's Keim's job to fix the problem if VJ can't.

He did try to build the defense, ILB was a need & had to be upgraded but VJ doesn't know how to use them right or his system is just too complicated? Last year's draft he did draft 2 DL but as you said, they both weren't premium DL picks so Idk what will happen moving forward? I have liked the trades that SK made. I really don't think MB will get rid of SK but I could be wrong.

Steve Keim.... love to hate that guy.

Have dogged his drafting for years.
But people get too focused on splashy premium picks.

Anyone else notice we have one of the best secondaries in the NFL?

Baker, Murphy, Wilson, Thompson...all good starters...all drafted by Steve Keim.

Our defensive woes are all up front on the line...not certain if it's talent or scheme... but we dogged on Allen, but the guy makes splash plays...and fails the routine.

I've been a semi Vance Joseph supporter...the big picture matters. But, we have to be able to stop the run when we're down...doesn't matter when we're up... but I am leaning towards a weak middle being a fundamental flaw.
If that's the case...then Keims drafting has likely even been better than he gets credit for

Still a work in progress. He’s getting better but has to bring back our draft picks that perform. No excuse for letting Reddick go.

A few on this board point out that we have a top 10 defense which is nice, but I would rather have one that can shut down a running game. Controlling the clock & wearing out a defense with the run will get us beat every time. VJ just can't seem to figure the running game out. Keim has added some pieces to work with.
