That's how many prominent lead guards the Phoenix Suns have traded away in their history: Stephon Marbury, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Sam Cassell, Dennis Johnson and Gail Goodrich. That also explains why the Suns will explore the possibility of bringing Nash back to the desert this summer with all the salary-cap room they've begun to stockpile by sending Marbury to the Knicks. Nash will be a free agent in July.

On a team that is/will be extremely young (even younger after this summer), Nash at or near 30, would provide veteran leadership. Why is that a waste? Don't we all agree that good teams mix veterans and youth?

Shawn Marion may be young, but he as much a veteran as Steve Nash is.

Not only is he old, he is fragile. He has to play limited minutes with any hopes of a good post season.

If we are really talking about championships, not constant playoff appearances, Nash is not the answer.

On second thought, Nash probably is a dumb idea, since Barbosa and Vujanic sound like the future at pg. But as one about to turn 40, it sucks to hear someone about turn 30 referred to as an age liability....

Its not really the age that bothers me, its the durability. For instance, if we could get a 30 year old witha game and track record of say Payton, who is never hurt, Im all for it.

Of course I wouldn't give longer than a 4 year deal (hopefully that goes through in the next CBA,it would be so good for the NBA)

It just giving a player who is near the end of his prime, and always has longevity issues a big contract is just stupid. I honestly dont think the Cs have him targetted at all.

Anyone that posts on this board could do a better job of reporting on the Suns than the average national media type. The thing that drives me nuts is this guy could spend a half an hour reading local articles and studying the Suns and come up with a better forecast.

Instead he pulls out his pedantic prediction calculator and adds:

Steve Nash used to play for the Suns.

Suns may have some cap room

+

Steve Nash is a free agent

=

Suns must be going to after Nash

The truth is way to simple for most dufuss media types to understand.

The Suns had the 6th highest payroll in the league to go with the 6th worst record.

Now their payroll is more in line with their performance and they can start over.

No way the Suns overpay anybody this summer. If they sign any free agents they'll be the bargain variety.

as someone about to turn 35 i am the perfect example of someone in their 30s being an age liability.

I'm not going to say anything about my age, but u guys can go soak your head's (or any other old aching body part) in a bucket of water. While you're at it, put some Epson salt in the water & see if Nash wants to join in the activity.

The media doesn't care about the truth, they only care about a dead line. Fact or fiction, if the pubic reads the article and a fuss is made over the contents, the media has done their job. Plain and simple, take what you read with a grain of salt...

Nash plays for the Mavs. Nash is the Mavs only real point guard. The Mavs can pay Nash more than anyone else. Cuban has more money than God. Nash is not going anywhere.

I used to think 20 was old, then it went up by 5 years a number of times for a loooong time.... now my mother in law is 92 and shes' doing great! There is this old lady that's 101 living nearby....She saw this 40 year old guy an said "He looks old - They don't make em like they used to."
