Yeah you're right let's not even try.

I agree with you that our WR's outside of Fitz are terrible but Jerry Rice and Randy Moss couldn't make Gabbert look competent.

See above never said not try, I’m for using our first or trading up to get the possible QBOF.

Not if BA stays, though. The Cardinals have to match the QBOF with BA's successor. Drafting a rookie QB high and having him learn 2 systems in 2 years in not a good idea. Ask, well, Blaine Gabbert.

I think the only terrible QB we've had over the years that nobody defended was Derek Anderson. Not surprised Gabbert (who has always been and will be dog crap) has his apologists here when even Max Hall and John Skelton did.

You forgot our worst QB, Ryan Lindley... but then again who wants to remember him

Gabbert was a warrior today, but it's pretty clear he just doesn't have the accuracy to be a starting QB in the NFL. Too many passes that sail. We were actually fortunate today that more of them didn't turn into picks.

I respect him, and he has some talent, but he's not our QBOTF

He doesn’t have to be the QBOF to want to keep him? Is that hard to understand?

I thought that was the topic of conversation, relax. I'd be fine with keeping him as a backup.

Pretending like he's the second coming compared to Stanton is what the actual problem is. Neither of them are the future. Which isn't a problem. Why? Neither of them are under contract. Draft someone, and trash this entire quarterback room. Blaine Gabbert is a bad quarterback. Stanton is mediocre. Palmer is done.

Defending Gabbert at this point is the silliest thing I've ever seen besides this:

Yeah those HOFers grow on trees let’s take one of those should be easy.

You may notice also the great catches their WRs make, and how they consistently run around and get open, none of which we have on this team!

Yeah, Brady is totally a product of the great receivers he's had over the years! Like all of the other WRs he's had that have had success off the team... Moss! Welker? Edelman? Dobson? Troy Brown?

Oh, wait, only one of those ever succeeded on another team. That guy is all time. He makes everyone around him succeed because he's incredible. He's not just Gabbert with more surrounding talent.

Excellent analysis, agree 100% on all points. If Keim decides to bring him back, he should be run out of town.

Lol no one has ever tried to compare him to Brady wtf are you even talking about? Brady is awesome with Belichick no one would argue that. All I may have said is receivers that catch greatly help any QB, see many of the catches in that game tonight? All I could think watching is most of those our receivers would never catch, poo Gronkowski made a catch where the ball was literally 2” off the ground. Same goes for Pitt they make outstanding catches routinely and make our whole wr core look like complete trash.

@nashman. Can we say the receivers suck as badly as Gabbert and just move on? None of them should be on the team next year if the FO gets some decent talent next training camp to knock them down the roster.

Since I'm coming over for the gints game Sunday. I'll bring my crayons and take comprehensive notes. We can go over them after the game... lol

I was quoting a post where you had quoted someone watching games with Brady, Goff, Wilson, and Roethlisberger. And you brought up how great it is for them to have great receivers, which would basically imply you think Gabbert would be anything but hot garbage with better WRs.

Give Gabbert any of their receiving corps and he'll still be what he is. Bad.

********! Give him a Gronkowski, Brown that can catch the ball and he’s not better? Total horse poo! How about an Oline like BIg Ben has where he can stand there and go thru reads all day long? Those guys are tremendously helped by the talent around them as well as the coaching and play calling, all of which currently suck for the Cards.

I would hope for Palmer to return even if he is a fragile suspension bridge from a Indiana Jones movie because with average blocking he is still night and day better than Stanton and Gabbert. Yes, he costs a lot but after watching Stanton and Gabbert never show a penchant at all for scoring points, he would be worth a couple of less aspirins while watching the game and then draft two QBs. Yes, I would go totally Redskins on this. I would move up and draft the QB I believe in the most and then hedge my bet with another guy later in the draft with one of those being my backup, meaning the growing pains of a young QB could start early but you cannot avoid the learning curve. You do not care about draft value if one of the two actually accomplish the objective of securing the most important position :)

It's hard to wing games with a high school caliber offensive line. But, yes, easily his worst game in red.

After the 1 quarter, they sacked Gabbert all of two times, and one time was when Gabbert inexplicably just ran out of bounds.

Understand your point, but in this game, the guy only completed 39% of his passes. Stanton would have been hung for that performance, not have people apologizing for it.

Offensive line is not an excuse for this one, it was past games, but not this one.

We needed a TD to win. Gabbert at one point has an easy TD taken away because he doinked a receiver in the back of the head! He had 2 or 3 other major throws swatted down. I lost count of the drops that could have changed the outcome.

That being said, I see nothing from him that makes me think he is QBOTF. If they want him to stay on the team as a backup and cut Stanton, I think that might be acceptable in the right circumstance. If they go get a mobile QBOTF, then it makes sense to have a more mobile backup. If Carson comes back, Stanton should too.

"Better" than awful, sure. But Gabbert has had 7 years to show that he's just not very good. Even if you gave him an All-Pro team, this guy wouldn't be a winner.

Don't forget that Blaine had an unforgiveable fumble on the third play of the game.

I'm glad we gave Blaine his shot. Too bad it didn't work out better.

We had to see what Gabbert could bring. Not much but it made sense to kick the tires. Now it's time to see how Drew does vs. NY and Seattle..
