Yes seriously. I know people here like to hate on Amare but Amare is one of the best scoring PF in the league. He is better then David Lee and he will command double and triple teams like always. Nobody double teamed any Knick players. You can't underestimate the impact that will have on that team.

D'Antoni's offense is built around opening the outside. This exactly the type of player D'Antoni needs to rack up a bunch of easy wins. They won't go deep with just Amare but if they get Wade or LeBron, this team is a legit title contender IMO.

I agree, i think a lot of people just assumes Amare cant be successful without Nash, i guess we will soon find out.

I have said this before but I will say it again.

Amare+LeBron>>>>>>Amare+Nash
Amare+Wade>>>>>>Amare+Nash

In a van...down by the river.
Knicks are an instant playoff team IMO. I just don't think they can get far without another huge FA signing.
Without another major FA signing i think they still struggle to get a seed higher than 6th.
Playoff wins?.......... Yeah...no.They're gonna need more. Alot more.

Amare's knees won't take the pressure of D'antoni's pace either IMO. It isn't '07 anymore. I give it 18 months before Amare's knees need more medical attention.

Coro just posted this:

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/sun...100705phoenix-suns-amare-stoudemire-plan.html

The Suns still might be able to get something out of Amar'e Stoudemire's departure after all.

Even with Stoudemire agreeing to a five-year, $99.7 million deal with the New York Knicks, the Suns are working on being able to use Stoudemire's rights in a sign-and-trade deal with the Knicks for a trade exception or perhaps even free-agent power forward David Lee.

The Suns would do so by also executing a sign-and-trade deal with Chicago and Hakim Warrick, who finished last season with the Bulls.

The Suns agreed to a four-year, $18 million deal with Warrick on Thursday night after Stoudemire had rejected the Suns' five-year, $96.6 million offer that included partial fourth- and fifth-year guarantees.

If the Suns do a sign-and-trade for Stoudemire first, they could receive a trade exception of up to about $17 million in return, unless a Lee contract is included. The Suns would then use part of that exception for the first $4 million year of Warrick's contract in a sign-and-trade with Chicago.

Chicago could benefit by getting a second-round draft pick from Phoenix, which might be able to get a second-round pick and a trade exception or Lee from New York. The Knicks benefit with a small bump in cap space by starting Stoudemire's contract at a lower first-year salary because the deal can have 10.5 percent raises via Phoenix rather than 8 percent raises if done by New York.

Otherwise, the Suns, after more than two years of considering trading Stoudemire, would see him leave for New York without any compensation, other than getting salary-cap relief and no longer being a luxury-tax-paying team.

"If we can do something to help Phoenix, we will," Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, said.

NBA free agents can't sign until Thursday.

The Suns also were rumored to be talking to Boston about trading Leandro Barbosa for Rasheed Wallace's contract until Wallace started reconsidering retirement plans. That could have led to a payroll-friendly contract buyout.

The Suns have talked to Cleveland about a deal that would send Barbosa there for Jamario Moon, whose contract expires in a year, and Delonte West, who can be bought out of his contract. Barbosa has two years and $14.7 million remaining on his deal.

Moving Barbosa could put Phoenix in a position to save $3.5 million this season and have more salary-cap space next summer, when Jason Richardson's contract expires, for a maximum-level free agent. However, after Carmelo Anthony, the 2011 free-agency pool won't be nearly as strong, and there is a strong chance of a lockout.

Just saw that Chap. Good news that we still may end up getting something for Stoudemire. I'll be impressed if Sarver manages to pull off this double sign-sign-and trade involving Warrick and Stoudemire. This bit of news also discredits Hollinger's article asserting that the f/o was unaware of salary cap implications and missed out on an opportunity for a sign-and-trade. A large TPE could be huge later on in the season and could net us a big time player. Dumping LB would actually increase the odds of using such a TPE.

Amare's a pretty smart cookie. He gets a $100 million deal with the Knicks and gets more time off too.

He gets two extra vacation weeks in April, and the entire month of May. Who wouldn't jump at that deal?

I don't get the Barbosa for Moon/West thing, but if Sarver pulls off one of the other two options, then that is some serious GMing. Amare would be wise to facilitate this as it would increase his salary, but therein lies the rub - Amare being wise. That said, I hope that this is how it goes down. If we end up with Lee and Warrick - DAMN! I'll take it:

Nash-JRich-Warrick-Lee-Lopez

Hill-Dragic-Frye-Clark-Jawal-Collins

I'd be down with that!

I thought the same as you at first, but I think the trade would be Stoudemire s&t to NY, Lee s&t to Chicago, and Warrick s&t + TPE to us. I'm not sure how picks would be distributed. The other scenario would be just dealing with NY and getting a huge TPE and a 2nd rounder back in exchange... Just think what an owner willing to spend and a savvy GM could do with a TPE that big around the trade deadline.

Could Phoenix get Lee at $12M+$5M TPE? At that point, you keep Lee and trade TPE for Warrick?

Hell, even that would be better than nothing. Understand, I do want Stoudemire gone and I am not opposed to just letting his ass walk at all. However, if we could get a little something out of the deal, that would be preferrable - that's all. You know?

I think that could be done. It's all in how the sequence plays out. That would be a major coup, though, to get Lee and Warrick for what we would have had to have paid Stoudemire. Starter quality AND bench depth (however it works out).

Nash-JRich-Warrick-Lee-Lopez

Hill-Dragic-Dudley-Frye-Lawal-Collins

I had to re-type that. It's a damned good lineup, IMO....

That really is a lot of depth, even assuming we lose Barbosa for nothing.

PG is fine with Nash and Dragic.
SG is a bit thin- either Dragic or Dudley would need to back up J-Rich
SF would be loaded- Hill, Dudley, Warrick, Clark
PF would be Lee, backed up by either Fry or some smaller guys- Warrick and Clark
C Good shape with Lopez and Frye.

Not necessarily. Nothing can happen until July 8th, so the Suns might have been unaware of all their options when they agreed to the Frye and Warrick deals, but they still have time to explore those options.

I am not buying Hollinger's article. I am SURE that Kerr explained this to Sarver at some point.

As for the Coro article, there are advantages to the sign-and-trade as far as NY is concerned, so they may agree to it. Amare wouldn't actually get more money or more years, because they've already agreed on a deal. But I assume his camp would agree to the sign-and-trade too, since it won't make any difference to them.

As far as all the Barbosa rumors are concerned, none of these deals make sense for Phoenix this summer. There is no need to shed any salary now. Like I said before, any move like the Boston or Cleveland one would be another cost-cutting move disguised as something else, except this time we are nowhere near LT so it is even more difficult to justify.

That could be a possibility as well, although I'm not sure Sarver wants to be saddled with Lee's contract starting at $12 mil for the next 5 years.

Chicago is still in the Lebron/Bosh/Wade sweepstakes so I doubt they are involved in this so they could get Lee. It may be we're trying to get Lee to agree to terms and then trade for Warrick with whats left of the TPE.

Don't know if he'll agree to it or not but its worth a shot
