If you could have either one of them for 5M$ slightly over the MLE. Who would you take for the Suns?

Etan looks like he could play the center position whereas Swift looks like a PG pretending to be a center.

Both are RFAs and I don't see either one going anywhere.

Stromile is bigger than Amare.

Amare and one of them could start with the other coming off the bench for both.

We would still have enough money to sign another quality player to improve our backcourt. Someone like Brent Barry or Jamal Crawford.

Why do they list a guys height with and without shoes?

Don't all shoes add the same amount to a guys height?

And if not why should I be impressed by a guy who wears high heeled sneakers?

I think Swift will be a better player, but Thomas would be a better fit. I don't like Stro at the 5, but he will be a really solid 4 in this league...I think.

i would go with thomas.

i work with a guy who is issac austins cousin. whenever he comes to town they alway talk about b-ball and the teams that he has played with. and the players. issac played with memphis a couple years ago and the team gave him a job of going and getting swift every day for pratice or for team plane or even game time. he states that swift is the laziest player he has ever seen. not just getting up but even doing the little things in life. at his place there was garbage that had been sitting there for over a month.

I agree completely. And Mihm is a slow, unathletic white guy, and we are overloaded with those already.

That we haven't heard anything about guys like Thomas, Swift, Crawford etc from the Suns may be just another indication that they are planning with Kobe who will take up almost all capspace anyway.

Swift was a backup player on a team that is widely reported looking to get bigger. Wright was their starting center and he is only 6'10".

Swift is an RFA, but that is based on a salary of $6 million for his final year. Last season he had 4.9 rpg in 19.8 minutes. Pretty good, but not enough to knock your socks off and at $6 million I'd like to see a lot more.

I think Etan's hair is cool.

And George. That Swift's qualifying offer is 6M$ doesn't mean he has to get a starting salary of 6M$.

Also talking about backups and minutes on the grizzlies is meaningless. They played almost all of their players for 20mpg and almost nobody for more than 30 really.

He gets the $6 if he does nothing, so why take less? There are some GM's I might try to pull something over on, but not Jerry West.

I'll tell you why he would take less. The $6 million is only for one season. If he can get an offer for 4-7 seasons starting at $4-5 million he would probably jump at it. Also, the Memphis grizzlies do not HAVE TO give him the $6 million. They CAN give him that money to keep him for one season.

They already gave them a qualifying offer. If Swift accepts it they HAVE to pay 6 mil. for him next season.

I apologize. I didn't realize that they had done it already. Thanks.

Ethan Thomas gets my Vote. He is alot heavier & stronger. He is more of a work horse, pluss he has great hair!

Foyle as his backup

Thomas, for sure. He plays with heart, whereas Swift often looks lost and sits games out every time he gets a hangnail. (Thomas is injury prone too, but at least his injuries are legitimate.)

I'd be very happy to have Thomas on the team for MLE money. With Swift, I'd be gritting my teeth and hoping for the best.

Also, in general I'd rather have a player who has done better than his early expectations than a high pick who has been a borderline bust.

Do we throw money at restricted free agents before we throw unrestricted free agents. After the July 15th deadline isn't there a 10 day window for the team with his rights to match.

I think in the position we are in we probably have to target unrestricted FA's or one restricted and one unrestricted.
