So, my stupid DVD player won't open. Well, it wouldn't open, but I got it open, got the rented DVD out and then it wouldn't close all the way. Now, it's closed all the way, but it won't open all the way.

Should I just get a new one or what? This cheapo thing is about two years old.

I had the same problem with mine about 2 years ago, I bought a cheapo 30 dollar one from Wal-Mart and haven't had a problem since. I'm sure it will go out soon too, but only 30 bucks

Yup, just had the same problem a few months ago. First one wouldn't open after 3 years, the second would skip and freeze like crazy on my brand new disks after 3 years. Wasn't the disks, was the DVD player.

Picked up a $69 new one from Sam's club a few months ago and no probs.

Just get a new one and don't buy an extended warranty. These are coming close to free now. Had a hard time finding an optical-coax-audio-out cable though.

Yeah dvd players are pretty much disposable these days. Keep it for a year, toss it out and get a new one.
