Dude, Zaven is here to kill people.Wouldn't put him over Zaven? That's HILAROUS. Bruh.
All depends on what you classify as huge.Really? What four defensive players would have been better? Reddick played fewer than 400 defensive snaps for the Jets, so it's almost impossible to have a full accounting of his quality.
If you want to put him behind Budda, Williams... and who else? Man our defense was held together with spit and baling wire last year.
He didn't really get a huge contract in 2022. I don't know why you think he'd get one after the worst season of his career. Joey Bosa makes $20 million a year and is the 12th-highest paid Edge.
Dude that was so last year. You know lots of these debates are very in the moment, and while we drafted Hassan he is now considered a free agent and not a draft pick...totally different standards, totally different debate man.
okay, okay...blatant K9 attack aside...
Reddick didnt wanna play for that team last year. There was bad blood because he feels they lied to him about his money. That makes a huge difference in the effort on the field. I mean, I dont particularly want to sign him. But "IF" we draft walter Nolen, Darius shows up...and we keep browning... the defense is markedly better with Reddick...especially if Ojulari actually plays a whole season.
I mean, I know that we all believe that pass rush is a need, but if the Cards re-sign Browning, I'm not 100% sold that the Cards will agree that edge and IDL are critical needs. It takes two to tango, but targeting Reddick and Milton Williams given their prior connections to Gannon seems like a total no brainer to me. And, if we are able to add an edge and DT before the draft, it truly frees us up to target BPA over need.
I don't get this at all...Browning is a gimmick player that is best used on 3rd down/obvious passing situations. Yes, he's a useful piece, but certainly no reason to not get an above average pass rusher.I mean, I know that we all believe that pass rush is a need, but if the Cards re-sign Browning, I'm not 100% sold that the Cards will agree that edge and IDL are critical needs.
If you look at the roster right now at the offensive line, there's real and good reason to panic.
Brown and Hernandez are free agents, as is Beachum, Trystan Colon, and Carter O'Donnell. If you believe the rumor that Jonah Williams might not even be able to play next year, it starts to look like a catastrophe.I don't get this at all...Browning is a gimmick player that is best used on 3rd down/obvious passing situations. I don't get the big concern about offensive line. Both tackles are ok, center is fine, and some combination of Brown/Adams/Hernandez should be ok at guard. Our D-line/OLB situation is a far bigger problem.
Hadn't heard anything about Jonah, but a credible RT isn't that difficult to find. Brown/Hernandez shouldn't break the bank to re-sign.Brown and Hernandez are free agents, as is Beachum, Trystan Colon, and Carter O'Donnell. If you truly believe these are starting caliber IDL, which so far none have shown at any point. These guys are all rotation level below average starters.Meanwhile, the Cards have Justin Jones, Bilal Nichols, Darius Robinson, and Dante Stills under contract for 2025. They probably believe that all of those guys are starting-caliber IDL. If they can bring LJ Collier back, you can see why they'd feel good about the IDL situation.
That would be planning to fail again. None of these players are average starters. At Edge they have Zaven and Beej under contract, plus Browning, Dimukeje, and Luketa. There isn't anyone appetizing in free agency, so they could easily decide to run it back and hope a better edge falls to them in the first two rounds of the draft.

Whether it be Jonah Williams or someone else, I just don't see RT as a glaring hole. I guess we'll see.Jonah Williams has the second-highest cap hold on the team heading into the 2025 league year. Christian Jones looked pretty bad in limited late-season appearances last year.
Starting on really bad teams, as both Jones and Nichols have done, really doesn't mean much to me at all. As free agents last year, they were labeled as fringe starters/rotation players, and nothing we saw with the in Cardinal red changed that.I actually do believe that three of those dudes are starting-caliber IDL, and you have to give Robinson the benefit of the doubt. My evidence would be that Nichols started 77 games from 2019 to 2023, and Justin Jones started 69 games in that same period (nice).
Yeah, which is why I'm worried about overpaying a Sweat or someone like that. I'd probably even prefer a Mack on a short term deal, or trading for Garrett/Maxx to ensure results. No, none of these guys are going to be confused with Chris Jones, but Chris Jones isn't available in the free agent market. If you're trying to discover the next Chris Jones in free agency, you're likely to get Jordan Phillips.
Yeah, passing on a pass rusher in FA was definitely the biggest fail of lost offseason. The Edge situation does look bleak. I think we'll see Xavier Thomas get the Kei'Trel Clark treatment next season. It'll be really interesting to see how willing they are to rely on Beej. Monti made a pretty huge error not investing in a pass rusher last offseason. I don't find this year's free agent class at the position inspiring.
