Two interesting prospects for the Suns:

Josh Harrelson: 6-10, 275 lbs. Good rebounder and a shooter with three point range.

Patric Young: 6-9, 250 lb athletic specimen who plays like an animal. Not a shooter, not a refined game, but a wrecking ball on the court.

Hope to see: Warren, Len, Booker, Brown

Pretty sure I saw somewhere that Patrick Young backed out of our summer league and signed a contract oversees.

Last year a number of us got subscriptions to summer league live. It allows you to stream games live as well as go back and watch replays of entire games. It's currently $14.99 for all 3 summer leagues, but I remember it being discounted right before the final Vegas league started so wait until it starts to purchase. Watching a team of Archie, Booker, TJ and Len should be pretty exciting.

I'd be fine with Len sitting it out. I don't think it will aid his development much and I'd prefer he avoid the extra mileage.

Might be an opportunity to have the offense run through him at times. Wouldn't hurt to get some time with Archie and Warren as well.

The kid's hardly worn the nubs of his tires. I would have him play just to allow him to gain a little rhythm.

^this. Plus it would be telling if he injured himself again IMO.

Why risk injury to Len for summer league games when he may be the Suns starting center? Too many young players trying to win roster spots in summer league can result in risky plays.

Yeah, because he keeps popping them. We have an equally pointless preseason, he can find his rhythm there.

I don't see any point in exposing a guy who has had a lot of injury issues to meaningless exhibition games with a bunch of guys playing out of control.

Sounds like a good idea to let Len wait until preseason. Have him work on core strengthening and flexibility that might prevent injuries instead. I'm most excited to see improvements from him, TJ and Archie this year. Too bad we didn't get LMA.

Ok, why not make Len retire?

He is young and needs to play.

So are we admitting that he's fragile then? Its not like he's an established player like Wiggins or Oladipo (same draft class) or something so that the extra reps can't help him.

If this is the case, then Devin Booker shouldn't play either, why risk him? We should never let any of our 1st rd picks play in the summer league because what if they get injured?

If the Morris twins who have a higher ego than most people didn't mind playing all 3 years of summer league, I don't think Len should shy from playing basically his 1st summer league since he was injured the first one and then broke a nail or something last year and missed almost all of last year's as well. As a matter of fact, the Morris twins actually said after their last summer league that playing in it helped them quite a bit. Maybe it can do the same for Len and give him some confidence. If he gets injured again, then its a sign that he may never be reliable and not even the Suns training staff can help him.

Summer league is not that meaningful for a player who has been in the league for two seasons. So you want Len to retire? Funny stuff.

He is young and needs to play.

Let Len play in preseason in a more professional environment. He has a third season ahead of him.

I'm not buying your premise. The NBA preseason and season is long enough. Let Len work out with Tyson Chandler.

I think Len should play, but looking at the rosters a lot of 3rd year guys aren't playing. I thought most did, but I guess not.

Guys like Steven Adams, Olynk, Noel, Giannis aren't on the official rosters ... So Maybe it's not a "thing" anymore for 3rd year guys to play

man... Ouchie and I watched a little of Charlotte's summer league yesterday because there was nothing else on and I gotta tell you... I don't know how you guys watch those games. It was the worst basketball I've ever seen.

They are brutal. When I watch them I'm just looking for player talent. The games don't mean anything.

Agreed. If he can't handle summer league, how will he handle regular season. You prevent injuries through proper diet, and training, not by treating a player like a piece of glass.

seems like summer league is more of a feature for guards. the bigs always get ignored.

as for Len, I'm not sure where he is health-wise. is he good to go? does he get another freak hand injury in summer league or pre-season?

I am intrigued by Harrellson. He is a 6-10, 275 bruiser who knows how to box out. He rebounds at a good rate and knows where to be on defense. Plus, he has a 3 point shot (39% last year). Funny. He reminds me a little or Bill Laimbeer.

AND he went to Kentucky. They called him JORTS there. Don't know why. Seems like the kind of guy you want on your bench.

Carter is a 28-year-old shooting guard who averaged 10 points in Turkey last year & played at Creighton (2008-10).

Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA
Justin Carter (who plays in Europe) will play summer league for the Phoenix Suns, according to source.

I can only watch the Suns games. I wouldn't watch any other team unless there was some trancendent rookie playing.

An older rookie. Okay, what's next.

Its never been a thing for 3rd year guys to play in it, and I've never seen guys who have already solidified their role (as Len has) participate in the summer league. The Morris twins were a rare exception and a big chunk of that had to do with Hornacek being in his first year. They had a lot of guys participate to familiarize themselves with the coach. Obviously that no longer applies.

The NBA Summer League gets about 5 million times the attention that its worth. It is hideous basketball, basically a practice with a clock involved, with rosters where 95% of the guys are not ready for NBA playing time.

I don't see any point in putting a guy like Len out there. There is an obvious injury risk attached with virtually no reward.

Suns 2014 2nd-round pick Alec Brown is on the summer team. The 7-1 shooter/shot-blocker is healthy after last summer's shoulder dislocation.
