I'm buying Knight stock. If Knight wants any contract in two years he has to be a force and make the Suns a winner without trying to score all the points himself. Even then a new contract with the Suns might be questionable.

Knight really wants to make this work, it sounds like. The guy does have talent. I wonder if his mindset can really change.

Injury can be a learning experience for a young player especially if he realizes his career is slipping away.

Still, I'm not counting on it. Maybe McDonough wants redemption on trading the Lakers pick.

I wouldn't be surprised by this. But we're really in the dark right now. Maybe they really believe he can be the point guard Ryan thought he was trading for? Or maybe they think they can find a suitor if they say and do all the right things? Or maybe they're just desperate and figure almost anything is better than what we have? I just don't know.

I wanted to vote for more than one but I chose the one in bold. I suspect McDonough still wants to be proven right.

I thought Jaren Jackson Jr. was the 2nd best player in the draft after McDonough raved about his shooting and rim protection. My hope is Ayton is the better player.

I saw highlights of Trae Young in the Hawks vs Grizzles summer league game and I think he will be fine.

He looks to have excellent game speed and quickness. The game needs to slow down for him though. After that, I look for him to meet expectations entering the draft.

Igor is coaching summer league this year and the fact they don't want Chriss is telling. He's not part of the future and it's clear.

Agreed but watching him play in summer league it's clear he needs to get stronger with the ball. It reminded me of Josh Jackson driving the lane the first half of the season. Defenders kept muscling the ball away from Trae (and Josh), usually by whacking his wrists or forearms but the NBA tends to allow that so he needs to tighten up his dribble and add some strength. I did like his effort on D most of the time though his shot selection is still less than perfect.

My concern with Young was his speed/quickness in adapting to the NBA game. IMO, he didn't have a margin for error like being a half-step slow.

Although I only saw brief summer league highlights he seems have ample quickness. Sure he will need to get stronger but this should come. I think your pre-draft enthusiasm for Young is warranted. Let the naysayers have their fun but I think Young will be a very good player in time.

Trae Young will be fine. The thing I noticed more than anything is he was simply missing his shots. He was getting a lot of looks that he would consider a good look, but just missed. Wouldn't be surprised if he wen't out and dropped 30 on great shooting in his next game.

Jackson looks more mature. Could just be his hair cut but he seems to be carrying himself a little differently also. Like that clip though. I thought some of the talk about him being one of major pieces was premature but he really surprises me every time I see him speaking about the team or the game.

Really? I thought he really showed star potential the second half of the season. He had some horrid shooting nights down the stretch but he was impactful on almost every possession. IOW, I thought it was clear that he was a big part of our future.

Yes it is encouraging about Bender. If all the other guys keep on his case, he might add some aggression to his game.

two more days and we get our first look at our new team and coach... at least it is if I get the SL games on my cable - directTV.
