Lawal looks like a good prospect if he can learn to shoot and make freethrows unfortunately he really is a bit small. Clearly smaller than Clark.

It doesn't seem like we're watching the same game. Lawal does not look smaller to me.

Clark hasn't looked good to me. His defense is consistent, but he hurts us on the other end of the floor.
The best thing for him is to get PT with Nash. Clark has talent but he needs someone else to do his thinking for him on offense right now.

Also his defense is good, but rebounding is inconsistent.

Clark has 12 points 10 boards 3 assists and 2 blocks how does he not look good to you today. He has had a bunch of very impressive plays and clearly is the best player on the court since Reggie Williams had to leave.

This is only 1 out of 5 games though.

You're right. That is a very good line. Those stats surprised me. I didn't think he was having that good a game. I just don't get a sense of ease watching him.

If anyone cares, Gani Lawal was the only Suns player to make the All-Tournament team at the Vegas Summer League.

I care. Nothing came easy for Lawal in summer league but he gutted it out and played tough inside. He also showed considerable athleticism. He is probably not more than a 3rd string PF on the Suns but he showed he doesn't want to be a mediocre player. It's nice to have another Suns player that wants to bang inside if Amundson leaves.

That was the MO on Clark coming out of college. Even when he is having a good game, it does not look like he is trying very hard. The polar opposite of Dudley.

loved the lawal draft pick and looks like he's living up to my expectations. do i think he'll ever be a star in the nba? no. but he's going to have a long career.

A hamster in a wheel works hard but he isn't going anywhere.

Here are the summer league stats (per game) for Suns players. I picked them out of the complete list so I may have overlooked someone. Reynolds was 8th in apg and Lawal 16th in rpg.

player gms mpg ppg fgm-fga fg% rpg apg stl/gm blk/gm
Lawal 5 27.6 15.4 5.8-11.8 0.492 7.4 0.2 0.6 1.0
Janning 5 30.0 12.6 5.0-11.6 0.431 5.8 1.6 1.2 0.4
Pruitt 4 12.5 4.8 1.8-4.0 0.438 5.5 0.0 0.0 0.5
Clark 5 28.0 14.8 5.2-14.0 0.371 5.0 1.4 0.4 0.8
Griffin 5 20.6 3.8 1.4-6.0 0.233 3.6 1.2 0.8 0.8
Hill 5 13.0 3.6 1.2-3.4 0.353 3.0 0.4 0.8 0.0
Edwards 5 10.6 3.6 1.6-3.2 0.500 2.8 0.2 0.2 0.0
Dowdell 5 23.6 10.0 4.0-8.8 0.455 2.2 3.8 1.0 0.0
Ponkras 3 11.0 2.7 0.7-3.7 0.182 1.3 1.7 0.7 0.3
BJohnson2 7.0 2.5 0.5-2.0 0.250 1.0 0.5 0.0 0.0
Reynolds3 23.0 10.3 3.3-7.0 0.476 0.7 4.7 0.7 0.3
MJohnson5 11.0 4.2 1.6-3.0 0.533 0.4 0.0 0.4 0.2

A guy from the DL that the Suns might consider sometime - I noticed him looking quite good against us.
Curtis Withers (DevLeagueStars)
5 28.8 13.2 4.6-9.0 0.511 7.8 1.6 0.8

I wish we'd have picked this guy... 284 lbs!
Derrick Caracter (LAL)
5 33.4 15.4 6.4-10.8 0.593 8.6 1.8 0.4 1.4

Here's an intriguing player if his measurements are correct - in the official summer league section at NBA.com he is listed as 6'1", 235lbs. Its not a simple typo because his given metric height of 1.85 meters converts 72.8 inches.
His name is Larry Sanders, played at Va. Commonwealth and was drafted by Milwaukee. He led the summer league in blocks with 3.2/game and was 8th in rebounding at 8.4/game. Some of you guys ought to know if its just a mistake in the data...
His complete line:
Sanders 5 33.6 14.0 5.8-13.0 0.446 8.4 0.8 1.4 3.2

Would have loved Larry Sanders. He's about 6-10 if I remember correctly, but his arms are ridiculously long and he is fairly athletic. Would have had to trade up into the middle of the first round to get him however.

I was talking about this over on .net earlier today. The Bucks just signed Brockman from the Kings. What on earth are they going to do with so many forwards. They are stacked there like we are on the wing. It's possible they may need another swing and could be an intriguing trade partner. Here's who they have at F/C. Obviously Bogut is untouchable, and probably Gooden, who they just signed.

Drew Gooden
Larry Sanders
Andrew Bogut
Tiny Gallon
Ersan Illyasova
Darnell Jackson
John Brockman
