He was All Defense 1st team in year 4 and year 5. I posted the stats, he wasn't a "late bloomer". In his 3rd full season he was a DPOY candidate, finishing 5th in voting, and averaging 16 ppg to go with 2.3 blocks a game. That isn't being a late bloomer. He was 22 years old.

That is the consistent improvement you want to see in an 18 year old you draft.

Yeah nice player that just now rounding into an all around big man. I’m sure he’ll make all-NBA at some point which 4 players from his draft class have already done. He’s definitely on pace to pass Mitchell Robinson for career win shares if he keeps this up.

This doesn't make any sense for New Orleans. They can cut Zion and free up max cap space to go with Ingram's expiring deal this summer. You want them to throw in recent draft picks, like their 2023 lotto pick Hawkins, and add extra picks to rent KD? I don't see Durant being cool with going there either. So they'd give up a ton for Durant to ask out and be forced to shop him again?

I'd add, Green and Hawkins are both SG's. Why do we need more SG's? Young or not. It doesn't make sense. Even if the plan is to move Booker and Beal, which is debatable given our plans for Zion. We aren't cutting him if we trade KD for him. There's no chance this front office doesn't kick the tires on him.

Yeah it’s probably not plausible but the Pels have a lot of salary on the books with Murray, McCollum, Trey Murphy and Zion. I doubt Zion is going to fail his “weigh in” stipulation to lose $30+ mil but anything’s possible with him.

I’ve been scanning Atlanta’s roster because they have so many wings and a couple of big expirings.

It’s his games missed not his weight.

Win shares mean what? You aren't making your point. He's made an All-Star game and won a top tier solo award already. Even if he didn't have those accolades, he isn't a bust. He's more productive than any other big in that draft. He produces more than Ayton does as a whole.

Late bloomer doesn't make sense for someone who contributed as a starter from day 1 like he did. Dunn is a bit of a late bloomer. Cam Johnson fits that's bill also. JJJ doesn't. He was producing and showed he deserved the starting job from day 1.

Got any other reason to say he's a late bloomer? A real late bloomer would have been suggested for Most Improved Player. Usually late bloomer have a significant leap at some point and JJJ hasn't.

You’re right. Had no idea he’s only played 6 games.

The NBA version of a pre-nup lol:
.
There are mechanisms for the non-guaranteed seasons to become fully or partially protected if Williamson satisfies weigh-in criteria set by New Orleans -- there are seven such dates during the season, with Williamson needing a combined weight and body fat percentage below 295 -- and plays in a certain number of games in the previous season. He would have to meet these criteria in the prior season for his contract to become partially or fully protected in the next season:

20% if Williamson satisfies the weigh-in criteria

40% if he plays in 41 games

20% if he plays in 51 games

20% if he plays in 61 games

Hitting his weight on all 5-6 weigh ins earns some back, but it'll be difficult and I think he can only get a small portion next season. The games are the vital part, you're right. His last 3 years are no longer guaranteed.

No one is going to trade for KD if Durant doesn't want to play for them, he'd just sit out, and there is no way in hell he'd want to play for the Pelicans.

I hope the Suns didn't promise to extend Durant for two more seasons.

Gerald Bourguet reports the Suns are not actively shopping Jusuf Nurkic per source.

Of course they aren't. Nobody would give anything for him, and somehow we need to get a replacement for him in the process. We are stuck with him for at least the rest of the year, once he is an expiring contract it might allow us to get some bad contract for him.

Mike Budenholzer said Grayson Allen (shoulder soreness) was a full participant in practice. Bradley Beal (hip contusion) was more limited, doing a little bit but no contact. Collin Gillespie (ankle) was also a full participant, said he should be playing in the G League again soon

Cleveland hated Lebron too at one time.

If LeBron waited to go back until he was 36 and Cleveland had clawed their way back to be a title favorite, I suspect they would have balked at trading for him.

Also, LeBron didn't trash his former team on social media using a burner account after he left.

The other problem is, OKC doesn't have bad contracts. They'd have to tear out a good chunk of their rotation to swing a Durant trade.

I think Charles Barkley got this one right.
