Butler can play any position, from shooting guard to power forward. This is an exciting possibility.

Then, say the Suns attach a first round pick and trade Nurkic for a better center.

Suddenly, the Suns are a much stronger team, at least on paper. Also remember, expiring contracts will have value down the road.

Guys chemistry matters you can’t just throw names at a team. You would still have no legit PG to distribute, no legit system, adding a mid range player in a 3 point league

I'm not sure what you are referring too in regard to point guards.

The Suns have three: Tyus Jones, Monte Morris and Collin Gillespie.

Seeing how Portis has been playing this season, I'm not keen on getting him and Middleton over Butler. I have no problem with the suggested Suns-Bucks-Heats deal, and believe it'd benefit all 3 teams. Mgmts of these teams aren't stupid if it's pulled in reality.
Suns main problem is actually too much KD/Book isos on O and their lack of focus on D, which greatly dimishes Beal value on here. Butler would be much better fit on O and have gut to press KD/DB on D. Bucks would have better use of Beal, otherwise they'd not make effort to acquire him. Middleton+Portic definitely are much better than Butler for Heats, now.
The remaining issue for both Bucks and Suns are complementary deals to reshape the total rosters. Curious about how it unfolds.

The word is the Suns have always liked Deni Avdija. He was the likely target for the Suns in the 2020 draft.

Reath would be additional depth at center, but not much more. The Suns would still need more size, but this trade helps.

If the Suns could trade for Deni Avdija, that would be like getting a top 10 draft pick who is only 24.

It might be worth two first round picks.

I think Isiah is directly involved in our current fiasco.

In New York he pulled off the seemingly impossibly feat of being the most expensive team in history while at the same time being one of the worst teams in the league... he is in Ishbia's ear trying to do it again.

* Trade Durant which will get minimal returns given his age and extension needs
* Let Butler rot until his contract expires, which I guess is no worse than letting Beal rot until his contract expires

I don't think we can stretch/waive until the Nasir Little stretch/waive expires.

I guess from that aspect having Butler isn't materially worse than Beal, and possibly marginally better as there's no NTC to contend with.

This was essentially my thinking.
Book would net the large haul...
KD would still net you something (more likely a young promising player instead of premium picks)...
Managing a Butler situation still undercuts the timeline to get to rebuild mode without a NTC to maneuver around and falls into the KD category to an extent...

For all we know if this were pulled off, there could be a preemptive understanding of if it implodes then they would look to move him.

Trading for Butler would still fall under the win now category and if it all went to crap during his tenure I'd rather the timeline of starting to rebuild be something shorter like a 2yr window with replenished assets than purgatory, cap hell, and no hope for close to a decade

I like Avdija a lot and Reath is a good prospect. I don't see why the Blazers would want Nurkic back unless we included all of our picks. I wouldn't part with more than one and even that wouldn't done enthusiastically.
