You really expect Ishbia to admit that the KD trade was a failure by trading KD?

I think they would be willing to admit that Beal isn't a great fit here more than hey, we gave up a ton for KD and it isn't just going to work out after 1.5 years so see you KD.

I didn't say he'd trade KD for Butler, or Beal for that matter. Miami is too smart to be our fool. There's one Sun who would probably get a deal done but he's the one who shouldn't be traded for more crazy glue. This team's flawed beyond the big 3. Until the roster construction is addressed as a whole this team won't compete.

I hope Ishbia will admit when he makes mistakes. He has a built in excuse already, he was brand new and looking to put his stamp on the franchise. That was shortsighted by him but owning it will allow everyone, fans and him, to move forward together. If he pulls a James Jones and shifts the blame elsewhere then there's little reason to believe his reckless spending will result in anything meaningful.

My assumption is you mean Book and that's why you didn't want to put it out there in the universe in your earlier post. Man...could you imagine??? I don't think the Suns are dumb enough for that trade. The only way the Suns move Book is if they get a ton of assets in return and that would be during a rebuild. Can you imagine the fan base if they were to trade Book, keep KD/Beal and say yeah...we are going to make a run for it.....without Book?!?!

Yikes. The fandom would have a meltdown.

If the Suns were willing to trade Booker, the Suns would have a number of teams interested, not just Miami.

Unfortunately, that's the domino that will have to fall to trigger the rebuild. That will likely make KD want out, which means we'd get out of 2 of the 3 massive deals we had for hopefully some decent future draft capital. If Beal is willing to waive his NTC at that point, then great, but my guess is that we'll have to keep him through part of the teardown/rebuild.

Lots of late nights at the Waffle house.

With such a trade like this there are a few things that has to happen.. a third team has to be involved. The Heat are above the 1st apron and can't bring in more money than they are sending. A third team like the Pistons need to get involved because they are below the cap.

All I can report is Beal for Buttler part is done.. now its just working on a third team to absorb the difference in their salary.

Also everything I just said was just BS but if it works out then I knew all along with my inside sources.

I'm wondering if the Suns will somehow get a center as well. Also, is BS a code name for a team or player?

I can't imagine a scenario in which Miami trades a better player with a shorter contract. I'd love to do that trade but I don't see Miami doing it. Buttler is a competitor- something the Suns really need. He also is not the same as Booker. My biggest issue with Beal is that he and Booker are essentially the same player. I like Beal (ignoring the injuries), but he is just another (slightly worse) Booker.

We're not getting Butler.

Period. No chance.

There is no trade scenario that is realistic. It wouldn't matter if he publicly stated that we were the only team he would accept a trade to. If it was absolutely confirmed that Jimmy wants to be here and only here it would only confirm that Jimmy does not understand the trade rules under the current CBA.

No doubt Ishbia is in denial if he wants one more run of this “Big 3”… but so are you if you think the Heat would actually want Beal, with his injuries and odious contract for Butler.

If we’re getting Butler for Beal, you can be your ass we’re throwing in even more future first round picks. And for what? To win a couple more games in the regular and not get swept in the playoffs, but still be a first round spoiler at best?

Pass. We screwed the pooch with the KD trade. Continuing to throw first round picks at the problem, with guys in their mid-30s no less, is the definition of insanity.
Nope. We won't throw in a #1. That would be idiotic. Even I have more faith in Ishbia than that.

I'm not saying Miami really wants Beal. Just saying they may want him more than nothing in return for Butler - maybe.

Beal is a much more valuable player when he is the primary scorer.

Gambo said the deal can be done without involving a third team. All it requires is for Miami to throw in any player on a minimum contract. They can sign somebody off the street to do that if they want to. The trade is actually very doable.

It makes no sense, whatsoever.
Butler is 35 and apparently no longer wants to be there.

The question is really this simple - is Beal and his contract more valuable than nothing to the Heat. Basically do they see him as having any positive value.

Also it may seem like a minor thing, but keeping agents and star players happy by granting them trades when they ask for them does have a positive effect on team reputation with other players and does help in future free agent situations.

Yeah, Miami would have to move salary just to get under the first apron to accept any kind of Beal/Butler trade and then Pat Riley would need to start free-basing cocaine to actually consider trading Butler for Beal.

They might be able to get under the first apron somehow for the first part of what’s necessary, but I really doubt Riles starts doing the second part.

I don’t believe anyone sees Beal as having positive value with his injuries and that contract at this point.

Also, the question you ado isn’t that simple because we’re not the only team that can trade for Jimmy. The idea that it’s Beal or nothing for Jimmy is a completely false choice.

The third party would actually have to take on Beal, the Heat would only get compensation, Suns get Butler.

Miami would be better off waiving Butler than making such a trade.

That is your opinion. Your opinion is not the same as the Miami Heat management.

I don't know what their opinion is, but they were apparently at least a little interested in Beal 2 years ago when his contract had 2 more years on it.

I never said it was the only trade available.

But I think you and many others are way overvaluing Butlers trade value. The only teams that I think would consider him is a veteran team aiming for the title this year, and you are not going to want to trade for Butler if you aren't on his pre approved list.

No team that has young up and coming players is going to want him.

To be honest he does not really excite me as a player much at all - the only reason I would really be for the deal is to dump beal's contract and get more flexibility for next season.
