The really bad part is GS has a connection to him. There is a very good chance that is the best offer we will ever get.
Especially because now that the cat is out of the bag, we’re going to probably get malcontent KD who’s going to make sure he gets where he wants to go regardless of what we get back.

Man, this ownership group/FO are beyond stupid.

Just listened to the cap expert on PHNX. He says Suns can now easily get under the second apron, which of course would allow us a ton more flexibility with trades. That is probably the primary reason the Nurk trade was a salary dump. If we get under the second apron we also get the mid level exception back I believe.

If they offered that much - I think you are wrong. He would adapt and we all know it.

We don't know if the Warriors would have made the trade if Durant didn't want to go there. That's the bottom line.

These trades are usually not made in a vacuum. Teams and agents are involved.

I didn't want the Suns to trade for Durant to begin with, so I would have been pleased if the rumored trade with the Warriors had gone through.

The Suns would still have to fill out their roster which would put them over the second apron, but a trade could probably get them under.

Here is the interview with Keith Smith on PHNX Sports talking about the Suns position regarding the CBA.

James Jones is one sad incompetent idiot.

We are in the market for a PF and a C, so we trade a C for a SF and a G. Makes sense. And Martin is 29 and Micic is 31.

What??
Non guaranteed contracts. You can waive the guys in this trade and Richards and be under the second apron. That opens up a lot more trade flexibility for us this offseason. Which opens up possibilities for a KD trade, or other guys. It's all about this offseason and creating the flexibility to retool the roster.

Totally recommend this. One of the better PHNX videos.

As long as Jones isn't involved in the retooling, I'm fine with that.

Saw a tidbit on Kellan Olsen's podcast, that since the Suns used their own 1st round pick in the Nurkic trade, they MUST use their 2025 pick now. As always, they can trade the pick they make on draft night.

I read the first round pick the Suns used in the Nurkic trade (2026) was the one they valued the least.

Not sure what you mean, the Suns valued less, or the other team? In any even, Kellen Olsen said it was already devalued by swaps already. They went through the probabilities of where they think that pick is versus the second rounder they got back, and it is better but potentially not that great of a difference as it would seem.

I understand the Suns didn't value their 2026 first round pick as much as the other two.

On a more positive note, I think Cody Martin may help what the Suns lost defensively in Josh Okogie.

Now, is there a free agent 4/5 available that could help the Suns?

We don't know that.

Did you approve of the way the Mavericks traded Doncic?
Approved of it? Not sure what you mean. If you mean do I approve of them trading him without his knowledge, yes.

I am not sure when it changed to players need to approve of where they get traded to, but that shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

The idea is every team in the league should be treated equally so they all have a chance to compete. If there are only 10 or so teams star players are willing to go, it screws up the whole competitive environment.

What I do have a problem with that trade is not opening up the bidding for him to all teams.

Suns GM James Jones declined to touch on the Kevin Durant trade rumors, going with his usual approach of wanting to keep things internal. Said there's a lot of noise around this type of year

I saw an evaluation of him where they said he's good and stopping the drives to the basket. They said it would be interesting to see him and Dunn on the floor at the same time.

Legler said on a podcast he was traded while on a cruise for his current teams fans. One of the fans had to tell him he was traded. This was before cell phones. He got off the boat and called his team where they verified his trade. He was angry and said he wouldn't finish the cruise. Then he said he had to figure out how to get home. LOL!
