They should use ishbia’s deep wallet and sign every kid not drafted that was projected to be drafted. Ditto international players that are outside the draft.

I have no idea if that’s allowed under second apron.
Evidently it is. That was the gist of the video I watched. It's arguably harder to find NBA worthy players that way. It's a loophole for us, though. I am thinking of watching some of the games just to see what talent we get on the team.

That's interesting. Maledon was on a Two-Way here last season. Mudiay had some promise at once point. Jahlil Okafor is definitely a bust but maybe can be a backup big if he's willing to work hard at it.

At one time in his career, I wanted the Suns to give Jahlil Okafor a look.

Maybe the Suns can find a surprise.

To be honest, I didn't even know they did G-League drafts. I thought it was first come first serve at that level.

Rethinking this. This almost shows a lack of scouting. This is the best we could come up with? I would rather take a chance on some youthful guys since supposedly we need more athletic and younger wings. Would assume these guys positions would be the same, too. We started last season with veteran minimum guys and that didn't work out so well. I guess a couple were used in a trade, so there was some return.

It was probably because it was an expansion draft, if that is the word for it.

The Suns bench was so weak last season, Jahlil Okafor would have probably seen some minutes if he were on their roster.

He is still only 28.

Oh I didn’t make that comment because I was excited about them. I was just shocked they were still in the g league. When you discover a gem in the g league it’s never these retreads.

Garrison O'Neal Brooks

College career

Brooks enrolled at North Carolina and was recruited by Roy Williams and Hubert Davis.[3] In his freshman season, he averaged 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.[4][5] In his sophomore year, he averaged 7.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.[6][7] He worked on his mid range jumper so much after his sophomore season that he hurt his wrist.[8]

As a junior, Brooks averaged 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.[9]At the conclusion of the regular season, Brooks was selected to the Second Team All-ACC and was named Most Improved Player.[10]

Entering his senior season, Brooks was named to the preseason watch lists for the John R. Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, and Karl Malone Award. The ACC conference media selected him as the preseason ACC Player of the Year.[11] He averaged 10.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game as a senior. Following the season, Brooks elected to transfer to Mississippi State, where his father coached, for his final season of eligibility.[12]

Professional career

On October 23, 2022, Brooks joined the Westchester Knicks training camp roster.[13]

For the 2023–24 season, Brooks signed with Wonju DB Promy of the Korean Basketball League.[14] He left the team early in the season.

On December 3, 2023, Brooks signed with BC Wolves of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroCup.[15]

On June 13, 2024, Brooks was selected by the Valley Suns in the 2024 NBA G League Expansion Draft.[16]

Not good, Younger. I think you missed my point.

If it is anything like other expansion drafts, the other teams can "protect" most of their roster from selection.

Honestly, I am actually surprised I've even heard of some of these guys.

You can't build a team of 14 undrafted guys under 21. They need some g-league vets to help mentor the younger guys and show them the way. Plus they're playing to win in the G-League as well.

The likelihood of more than 1 or 2 guys making it up from the G-League is extremely slim. Don't look at these guys as future Suns. The whole G League to NBA path is quite different than MLB, for example.
