I don't think Tyson was mailing it in, he looked like he was trying, he just has nothing left in his legs.

He was a good soldier, he never complained, at least publically, when "injured" or on the bench he was always the biggest cheerleader. I don't have anything bad to say about Tyson.

I think we're dumb for not holding onto his contract should a trade opportunity arise... it is nice that we're "doing good" by a player but IMO that stuff is wildly overrated. No one cares or remembers this kind of stuff long enough to matter. Players follow success or money, I don't think any of them give a squirt if a team valued a 17 year vet's contract flexibility more than the vets wishes.

Let's look at it from Tyson's point of view. All the management hype this season was about the Suns ready to take steps forward, especially with the #1 pick.

But here we are NBA ready at only the Shooting Guard and Center positions and looking for starters at the other three. With one good bench player who dogs it because he wanted to go back to starting at Small Forward.

I wish Tyson well. He is a class act.
Who is this in reference to?

Treating players well is always a good idea just ask Colangalo. Over time this improves the team by attracting better FA.

Luckily we have other huge dead beat expiring contracts that can be used, Ariza.

I would assume TJ...

Yeah it has to be. I haven't followed the gossip so maybe BC is right. TJ has been coming off the bench and playing PF most of the time. But I have no idea if his disappearing act was him pouting or just a continuation of the TJ we've all seen these past few years. I do know he has struggled at times in the past without Booker, he's just too easy for a quality defense to shut down. He has to have other weapons around him and the defensive focus has to be on someone other than him.

He lives there. This is about Tyson getting a convenient situation for himself. It is not about competitiveness or that he wants to compete--just more thinking.

The Lakers are not looking at it as a pensioner thing. They are thinking Chandler can help them. This says something.

Yeah, I have no idea where the idea of TJ pouting comes from. He had one really bad game, and one borderline bad game. Both of them took place without Booker. He's had bad games last year too when he was starting. I think the pouting thing is made up, like so many things.

Yeah, it says that they're out of touch with reality. :p Well, he's got to be better than the G-Leaguer they have in there now at backup. In reality, he'll probably be much more effective on a good team than he has been for the Suns.

i'm not a Chandler fan (Tyson. the city's nice. i live there) but, objectively, he looked to be playing harder in games this season, and it's probably because he was marketing himself.

regarding TJ, i posted that night that he was probably pouting when JJ started over him. A sports writer also mentioned it. It's common sense. He had just played like our 2nd best player for two games, showing what the team's been wanting, and still couldn't crack the lineup. When to be hard on a player, and when to baby them is a skill experienced coaches acquire.

I agree. I don't think he's been trying to sabotage us like Markieff and Eric did, I just think he's been trying to keep the wear and tear to a minimum especially since he knows it really doesn't matter. He could be Tyson at his best and we'd still have been a bad team the past season and a half, might as well save his knees for a team that actually wants and needs wins.

I know. I think they are wrong. Like every old player, he will give them a few good moments. But the pensioner thing is from Chandler's perspective.

I'm thinking all the Lakers want from Chandler is a good few minutes. I knew you were talking about the pensioner thing from Chandler's perspective.

If I were the Lakers I would have been content to play Zubac. Saturday he produced 9 points and 8 rebounds against Portland in 20 minutes. Somehow I wish the Suns could pick him up down the road.

Anyway, If the Lakers like our retirees, I'm all for it. :wink2:

Wow BC867 not taking a shot at ownership for just saving 4 million
My concern is not about Sarver's millions. Four million to him is chicken feed.

It is about doing what is right for the Suns roster. And, in Tyson's case, what is best for the player as well.

TJ Warren, who underperformed in a recent game, which led to his being reinstated in the starting lineup.

I applaud his desire, but dogging it in a game is not the admirable way to achieve it.

Sometimes players are not TRYING to dog it, they are just so bothered by a choice that seems unreasonable that it is hard to stay focused. I will give TJ the benefit of the doubt here unless this becomes a pattern.

My first read I thought you were going to say fried chicken. I guess I'm hungry. LOL

At least we know the Suns are full in on developing rookies, the other young guys and are prepping for another top 5 draft pick now.

I think our quickest path to wins is with our young guys anyway. I am just fine with adding a quality star vet player, but developing our youth will give us the assets to get there. I just hope we can stomach the losses and keep the coach, while we get there.

I haven't heard any exact numbers about the Chandler buyout but it would make sense the Suns save around $2.1 million because that is what the prorated minimum is for the Lakers to sign him.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...r-bought-phoenix-suns-eyes-los-angeles-lakers

So the $2.1 figure I used was correct. Chandler agrees to give this amount back in the buyout. I'm guessing the Suns may use this if they acquire another player.

Is anyone here worried that we won't have Chandler anymore? Does anyone here believe it will cost us any wins?

I don't.
