I have some questions:

1. Is Hoopshype wrong about Beasley? I thought we bought him out and that the third year of his deal was non-guaranteed anyway.

2. Goran will be a FA in 2015 unless we extend him. There is no way he does not opt out of that contract.

3. Are we still paying Josh Childress next year? Yikes.

4. I assume Frye is here next year unless we trade him. There is no way he will opt out of that deal, is there? Could Frye get a little more on a one or two year deal with a team that is looking for a stretch 4?

5. Is it just me or is PJ Tucker the present Suns player most likely for the Suns to just let walk this summer? While he is a great glue guy etc, he is also an UFA and depending on who else they pursue, he could be gone.

6. Is Gerald Green the best salary deal on our roster? He has kept us in many, many games this year and he is locked up for next year too at $3.5 million.

7. There is not one bad contract on our current roster. Everyone one of our present players is tradeable including Ish. That is unusual.

In regard to Beasley, he was bought out. He was owed some guaranteed money for the third year. Here is how Paul Coro explains it in an article at azcentral dated 9-3-13.

Babby negotiated to reduce Beasley’s salary for this season from $6 milliion to $4.67 million and next season’s guaranteed $3 million of a $6 million salary to $2.33 million. Using the waive-and-spread provision of the collective bargaining agreement, the Suns will spread that $2.33 million in payment and cap hits over the years to $778,000 annually. The buyout, along with the ability to spread next year’s salary, creates $1.4 million in cap space this year (now about $6.7 million of total space) and $2.2 million more of cap space next year.

Dragic does have a player option in 2015/16 of 7.5 million. The Suns need extend him when the time comes.

I'm not sure how the Childress salary plays out.

I do not have any doubt Frye will pick up his player option of 6.8 million next season.

Tucker is playing for $884,293 this season and will be a FA. No doubt he deserves much more.

Gerald Green is on a great salary for the Suns but PJ Tucker and Ish Smith are right there. Ish Smith is a team option next season. The Suns may not be able to afford Tucker but the Suns have a team option on Smith for only $985,000. Smith is a keeper for the money.

I agree, the Suns are in a good situation salary wise and not a bloated contract on their roster. Even Frye is a potential expiring contract and his salary can be included in a trade.

Below is a link to the Suns salary situation.

Wasn't Childress amnestied? He shouldn't count against the cap...

Or is it only for luxury tax purposes?

*Actually, if you add up the totals, Childress' salary doesn't count against it. I guess it's just there for illustrative purposes.

The Suns wasted a chunk of change on Childress and Beasley. One of these days I want to see them not listed under team salary.

Damnit... I hadnt thought about Beasley in months. Thankfully the only people dumber than Lance Blanks is Beasley and whatever idiot negotiated his buyout. Its pretty amazing that the Suns talked him out of nearly 6 million in salary.

My guess is that there was some pretty tight morals clause in his contract, so he didn't have much leverage.

It seems to me that if there had been a pretty tight morals clause, tighter than usual IOW, our front office wouldn't have had to negotiate a contract buyout.

I think the Suns only saved about 2 million from the amount the Suns had to pay Beasley, 1.33 million this season and .67 million next season.

Wasn't that about 25% of what was owed? That is a decent discount.

As much as I hate to say this, I think the Suns should trade Dragic if they think Bledsoe is in their plans for the future. His stock is at an all-time high and you don't want to pay two guards big money (probably $12 million each). You could get a lot of value for Dragic right now, and fixing up some holes (especially bigs) could be a smart move.

Also I think the question is which player would give the Suns the most bang for the buck in a trade and whether the Suns want to pay their guards huge money in the future. I think the Suns have proven a two PG offense works. So I guess it would all depend if the Suns received an offer they couldn't refuse.

I'd just pay them the money and find out if you can win with a guard heavy team. I like both players but I'm not sure you could build around either of them as a traditional point guard. Together they make an almost unbeatable combo but I doubt you could get anything near a superstar in return for either of them. Keep them and we already have a pair of superstars or close enough. It's not the ideal way to build a championship team but if you don't have the best player in the game you're already living with a less than ideal plan.
