Agree about Crawford. But he also can't guard. Jackson time is coming with better consistency. But another reason for concern is that he doesn't look much stronger then last season either.
Oh yeah, but Crawford’s limitations are the same now as they where 15 years ago.

The most concerning thing is that his shot selection is bad and getting worse. That is a clear indicator that poor coaching is causing him to regress (as is lack of a point guard, to the extent he continues to force things due to lack of a facilitator).

He was? He said if we didn't add a good point guard we'd be lucky to win 10 games and he also said that we should trade away our best players because our current point guards would ruin Ayton, Booker and the other young guys, setting them back at least 5 years. Almost to a person, we agreed with him that our point guard situation sucked, it was the hyperbole that followed that caused the problems.

there were plenty of people who talked themselves into believing that Canaan and Harrison might not be good PG, but they were average NBA level players and we could make do with them. There were some people who even talked themselves into believing that Knight could fill that role... and finally there were a couple that actually thought Koko's "system" didn't need a real PG because of the "motion offense" he was going to run.

Almost to a person, the majority of the board thought we needed to upgrade eventually, but that we wouldn't be a complete disaster in the interim... which we are.

I'd agree with the second half of the bolded part, not the first. I don't remember anyone saying they were average NBA level players although maybe I missed it. I do remember arguing on their behalf but that was against the contention that they were historically the worst point guards ever. And I might have been wrong there, not counting Booker they might well have been the worst set ever.

But yes, there were some that thought that Koko's system would hide our PG weaknesses as the setups could come from any position and a few also thought we could struggle by with Knight. I know I was certainly hoping we could get by with Knight and after the trade I was hoping we could get by with Anderson and Ariza at the 4. But I never really believed it, I always thought we'd have even more problems with the hole at the 4 than at the 1 (because of Devin).
