To put it in perspective,

Bradley Beal shot .445 overall and .339 from the 2. His ft percentage was .769.
Deon Waiters shot .476 overall and .363 from 3. Ft .729

Now I am not saying that Marshall is as good a shooter as these guys. He did not shoot nearly as much and had much more open looks when he did shoot. BUT THAT IS WHAT A GOOD PG IS SUPPOSED TO DO, GET HIGH PERCENTAGE SHOTS FOR EVERYONE AROUND HIM.

Getting high percentage shots for guys around him is his strength. I think we all agree with you there but that is not all he is suppose to do. A PG is expected to score as well and we have seen what happens when Nash isn't scoring but still dishing out 10 assists.

Shooting 34% in jump shots and the rest of his shots in the lane I think is the big question. IMO he will have trouble getting into the lane with his limited speed at the next level. Which means the Suns are going to have to fix his jump shot.

Another low ceiling, unathletic guy who doesn't play defense...he'll fit in perfectly with our roster!

Color me excited.

10 year starter but no All Star is what I see.

Get ready for bottoms out next year when our leading scorer will be Jared Dudley at 12 ppg!!!!

Suns are the Miami Dolphins of the NBA. Franchise holding onto its antiquated "jewel franchise" status that never takes the big swing, always goes vanilla, and seems to be vacillating back and forth between making the right basketball decision and the right P.R. decision.

Dear god I wish Bob Sarver would sell back to JC. Sounds like Sterns is pushing for JC to get back into the ownership fold somewhere and I pray he rekindles his fire in Phoenix.

Till then I have the Heat to keep me entertained. Next season will be the cellar dweller year everyone has been pining for the last 4 years. Lets just hope that the Suns dont have the worst record but somehow end up with the 3rd pick in a 2 man draft.

you just know the above is going to happen.

Nash leads the NBA in assists almost every year and he doesnt have foot speed. Jason kidd, deron williams....same thing

Those are possibly the three best passers in the league and none of them have dominant foot speed

Jason Kidd HAD great foot speed. He was one of the biggest, most physical, defensive oriented 2's of his era. But he had difficulty staying in front of speedy pg's.

If Marshall can become for of a physical defender, with some added strength, he can really improve himself.

Those other players shot jump shots and shots in the lane too. This is getting nitpicky.

There are a bunch of certainties here:

1) The odds of drafting a perennial All-Star at #13 are extremely low.

2) If we truly are rebuilding, you have to start somewhere, and not every young player is going to be Lebron James. Marshall appears to be a great building block--not THE player to turn us around, but certainly if he is matched up with great complimentary players, he could be pretty good.

3) Yes, UNC was loaded with great players and potential stars. I think it's a mistake to discount Marshall's role in making said players stars. The guy was the consummate floor general for that team, and as the saying goes, makes players better--yes, even those UNC guys who have star potential. That means something.

None of those other players has such a low jump shot % when removing shots in the lane. That is the difference.

Marshall still has to get stronger and Kidd is only 10lbs heaver then he is. I can see their game play being very close if Marshall can focus on his deffence and getting stronger. North Carolina had alot of good scorers so there was no need for him to take alot of shots. He is still a project and at #13 was a good pick to contribute to this team. Kidd was the #2 pick if Marshall could play D like Kidd he would have gone higher as well
