Yeah, bigs have a bit more lee-way, there are definitely more examples of bigs who can't shoot from range that can stay on the floor (Dallas had two of em). I guess it's theoretically possible they see Dunn as a small ball 5, but he seems a bit small/light for that.
Maybe he can play center when we go small? If he can develop some chemistry with Beal and Booker he could roll to the hole when they drive. Hope to see less ISO offense this year.

i don't think many people learn how to shoot after they've become old enough to legally drink but anyways

we had a choice between the pg type everyone in here wanted last year - or a cat who can defend power forwards - help on penetrations and in the paint

ishbia must've considered the latter to be more important
Who was available for us as PG? I have not followed the draft.

I think Okogie got too little playing time or was not used correctly. You've got to have balance so you always have some scoring and shooting there. If you are not a threat from outside you have to cut or roll or hit the offensive board.

Okogie should have been used when they needed energy or needed to slow down players, typically when Allen and Gordon had bad shooting nights.

Also not playing Jordan Goodwin was a mistake. They should have been more patient with him. He had obvious qualities like energy, defense, ball handling, that all the other guards struggled with.

No doubt... the coaching was godawful last year under Vogel. Sometimes you had to wonder if he had any kind of clue what to do.

Thank goodness he isn't back this year. I would have steadfastly refused to give a crap about the Suns again until he was fired.

BTW. This is one of the most amazing basketball stats I have ever seen.

Not one rookie, played even one minute for the Suns last year. None.

Dunn had a 38.5 inch max vertical leap at the combine! In the sixty percent range finishing at the rim in college last year.

That max vertical leap tied with another player for sixth overall at the draft.

Brendon Kleen's podcast had some quotes from other NBA analysts like "best defender in this draft" and best defensive talent in several drafts.

Dunn is 6’6 1/4. That’s not 6’7
This guys height I have seen 6'6" to 6'9". His wingspan is longer for his height than even DaRon Holmes who we traded out of the 22cnd pick.

for example:

Bleacher Report Draft Expert Jonathan Wasserman's Scouting Report
Player: Ryan Dunn
Position: PF
Height: 6'8"
Pro Comparison: Matisse Thybulle
Scouting Report: Dunn's explosiveness for play-finishing and defensive court coverage may be special enough for a team in the first round to picture an outlier and specialist. He blocked shots and collected steals at crazy rates this year. He just didn't show any improvement to his offensive creation or shooting.

Dude you’re relying on bleacher report. Cmon.

Here is his actual measurement from the nba draft combine (Psst, it’s 6’6 1/4):

This would be funny if the poor shooting by Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro wasn't so worrisome.

I bet the results would be similar from the free throw line.
