Just now on Gambos show.
Gambo was told by a unnamed player that none of the players were told of Horny's termination. They learned about it from the morning news.
Let that sink in!

What's to sink in? It happened late at night and by the time they woke up it was public knowledge.

They fired him in the middle of the night and Woj spoiled it asap.

What do you expect that they call every player at 2am to tell them?

Unless it was a spur of the moment firing. The team usually buses back to the arena after landing at the airport. They had plenty of time for a quick heads up before players left the arena.

There are these devices called "cell phones" that can quickly receive brief "text messages." Some richer people have them and I've been told that they're quite easy to use.

Please.

Let's keep on coming up with stupid reasons why the Suns organization didn't let anyone know at 1am. Cell phones! Aack!

The players are to blame for Jeff's firing.

Too many negative attitudes on this team.

Trade Markieff and PJ.

Get rid of Lon.

I think that's partially true, but it's also on Hornacek as well. He's just not a great head coach of NBA athletes.

Did Gambo and Sarver have a falling out? Because Gambo's really whining about the organization right now.

Lots to whine about...Gambo tempered his whining with some facts: nice young talent in Booker, Len and Warren. Lots of picks, including a lottery pick after this season (Ben Simmons perhaps??), etc...
But yea, it's a total debacle and even Gambo wouldn't sugar-coat that.

In a van...down by the river.
Not a fan anymore. First the NBA lost me and shortly after the Suns' insanity of unintelligent basketball culture lost me for good. Kudos to those of you who have held on.

It's interesting that after all this that we still don't really know if Hornacek was a good coach or a bad coach.

So who's the next former Suns player(Guard) in line to coach this team and give lip service to playing some defense? When will Sarver let good basketball people run the team?

Listening to Burns & Gambo right now and they're pretty much hitting the nail on the head when speaking of the Suns have completely lost this town. It's a tragedy really, when you consider where this team was 10 years ago.

Yep...

In contrast, the Spurs are on their way to the 17th straight 50+ Win season. And, during that time, have you ever heard their owner's name mentioned??? Ever??
Sarver, while he may have had good intentions (he may have thought he was doing the right thing), is mostly to blame here.

Do we know for a fact that the players were not texted? It would seem that this would be a way for the organization to keep in touch with the players. However, I'm not viewing this as a big issue.

Wow, just freaking wow. Indefensible.

Also, what kind of message does it send to the players that the guy who disrespected the coach is on the team longer than the coach.

Since almost every player has at one time or another stated that Markieff is loved by his teammates, maybe just maybe the problem is Hornacek who just does not have a clue how to lead a young team, keep players accountable etc..

Hornaceks authority seemed to be reduced to benching players to make a point.

This mgmt team is not very good at communication. Thats on McD. And I like McD.

When he was on last summer after trading Marcus, it was weeks later and he said that he had not talked to Kieff yet, I thought, "wow" how can you let that happen." Yeah, its going to be a tough conversation, but you have to talk to him, even if you have to fly to him and talk.

The Suns need to improve public relations with players and public.

Earl Watson it is.

There ya go BC. Youngest head coach in the league. Way less experience than Horny. i am sure he is going to be the tough guy you wanted.

Be careful what you wish for.

Oh, and to make it even better, there is this.

Chris Haynes ✔ @ChrisBHaynes
Earl Watson, new interim coach of Phoenix Suns, will hire agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, league sources inform @clevelanddotcom.

Okay, I'm lost. The first thing you do after being named interim coach is hire an agent?

Truth stranger than fiction. Who knows. Maybe LeBron is considering a hostile takeover of the Suns. He will be a FA this summer after all.

Force a trade of Kieff and Knight for Tristan Thompson. Then he signs with the Suns this summer. He now basically owns the franchise.

Starting pg, sf, and pf all under his thumb along with the coach.

My choice was Corey Gaines. Head coaching experience within the Suns family at the highest quality part of the organization. Not just because they've won championships in their league. But because quality people (such as Ann Meyers Drysdale) have had hands-on. As well as Corey Gaines.

Mainstreet said:

And this is why. A Head Coach (even Interim) WITH EXPERIENCE doesn't have to learn how to do it. Sarver again has chosen someone without experience in his job. Someone without the credentials to stand up to him.

Same ol' sh--!

Sorry but WNBA does not count. Watson is highly regarded around the league. There were articles a year or two ago about Watson being the next great young coach eventually.

Sorry but making Gaines the interim would not be any better PR-wise.
