Excuse you. :D

I'm not impressed either. Luckily D'Antoni is only an interim coach, and I'm hoping we bring in a good coach.

I'll be amazed if D'Antoni is replaced by a real coach. What I think is almost guaranteed to happen is that he will last a couple of years and then get replaced by the next assistant in line, whoever that is at the time.

Right. And 10 to 1, next summer Iavaroni will be offered some head coaching position in the league.

I agree completely. Why isnt it appropriate to voice concern over this? Its a mgmt decision and it needs to be derided (assuming of course in year 12 of my previously ranted about Suns cycle that we are still soing this. I expect it.

It is appropriate, but it's also entirely redundant. Said concern has been voiced over and over on this board for as long as I've been a member.

If you're looking for someone else who isn't thrilled about the D'Antoni promotion, you've found him. But the bottom line is that I just don't care. I've moved, perhaps, one small step beyond where you are now: I'm past my fury, and securely into resignation.

Maybe my attitude will change, but right now I just can't gnash my teeth over the futility of this franchise. We all pretty much knew they would play poorly on this road trip, fire Johnson, hire D'Antoni, and carry on the same crap over and over. And well, news flash, here we are. And things will get a little better for a while, and then they'll get worse for a while, and then we'll do it all again.

Maybe, in a couple of years, Stoudemire will become such a great player that he'll be able to bail this franchise out single-handedly. Barring that, I fear that the Suns are doomed to mediocrity for the rest of the decade. And I'll watch it happen, but the story is a lot less interesting when you already know the outcome.

The next step is apathy....then it gets to a point that you cheer on the to lose as many games as possible to get a higher draft pick.

Oh wait, I was thinking about the Cardinals, though the Suns are about as bad right now.

That's five coaches in a row blown out early by the Colangelos, ands the sixth is set up to fail.

Excuse me if I'm not impressed.

I don't know about that. I tend to think Frank was blown out 1 and 1/4 seasons too LATE. I bet the Colangelo's believe the same.

He should have finished out Skiles' unfinished season and been done. But the players loved him, and the C's didn't want a revolt, (read Shawn Marion was a FA, and Kidd was threatening to lure him away).

So they waited until it was plain to everyone that FJ needed to go.

Maybe its just me, but I would to see how the team plays for D'Antoni for a few games before writting him off as just "another former guard".

Brian C on the radio this afternoon said a lot of teams contacted him about D'Antoni during their coaching searches. His name certainly came up a lot on the rumor boards over the summer.
This doesn't mean he going to be a great coach. Lots of guys become sought after coaches, but fail when they finally get the job.

One angle that has not been brought up is that if the Suns management had such a high opion of D'Antoni, maybe FJ began "looking over his shoulder" and stopped listening to Mike and the other assistant coaches.

How much advice would YOU take from someone being groomed to take your job?

a bad ting is that if D'Antoni gets fired as a head coach he won't be back as an assistent.
So we'd need another assistent coach and that won't be someone who's a big man most likely.

ok, mike isn't a big guy, a former guard in italy.

Way to make your point by reverting(or perhaps ascending) to childish name calling against one of the more respected voices on this board. For your next trick will you be showing how play-dough makes the color of your excrement rise to vibrant new levels?
