So, Sarver thinks the team should be better now. If we apply that thinking, and understand that Sarver has been involved in the decision-making processes, we can play a little game of conjecture.

Ayton was Sarver's pick, not McD's. There were rumors of this anyway. This happened when Sarver over ruled McD and resigned Dragic when McD wanted some Knicks retread. It would be like Sarver to say, "why do I need you? My picks are better than yours."

But truly, the Suns next big move is free agency, and McD just does not have the ability to sell a free agent. I am guessing Sarver already has a free agent in mind and is going to hire a GM close to that player so he can lure him.

So. How long til you all start regretting this firing. McD was not great shakes but thing can get worse.

“What! We gave that? For that?”

My prediction. Our next trade will involve an unprotected Suns first round pick for a marginal point guard.

GM’s around the league are circling like sharks.

That is incorrect, Blanks and Babby were running the team when Dragic returned. They wanted Raymond Felton, who is still in the league but has been a career backup at best. He's competent to fill a hole for a year if needed but not someone you would sign for multiple seasons. Dragic was here for a year before McD was hired, and Hornacek was hired. Both Hornacek and McD signed in the same offseason.

I dont know what your problem is.

McDonough deserved to get fired over his people management skills alone and the head of scouting must have had a terrible draft record.

GM duty right now is the lowest it is going to be, if you fire a GM better do it in August-October than January-July.

Dragic knows Igors system better than anybody other than maybe Doncic. I see goran as a pure PG. The only reason he isnt with the Suns to this day is because MCD created a cluster F at PG and Dragic was moved out of his natural position. But everyone knows the history of what happened. Goran would be the best PG the Suns could bring in to run Igors system which could possibly speed up the playoff timeline?

Goran is not a pure PG, Booker is just as good a passer already.

I was kidding about 1sun by the way. But... maybe it's Sarver's wife?!

Yeah, this is my worry. If this fire truly is about pushing for the playoffs now, then some team is about to rake us over the coals.

Well, I didn't see 1Sun post during the Sarver interview...... Just like you stopped seeing Michael Jackson and Latoya at the same time....

Ah. Thank you for the correction.

How many coaches and GMs has the team had during Sarver’s tenure as owner?

Ah, yes, Sarver did leave a mark with his Warrick, Hedo, Childress fiasco. I worked hard to forget about that.

The unprotected 1st chatter was obviously leaked to Woj by McD. Even so I don’t think they’d trade an unprotected 1st unless we’re talking a PG the caliber of Lillard. I think they trade whatever else; With McDonough, Connolly and the director of scouting gone there’s no more FO ties to past draft picks.

I can't remember what I had for breakfast but I can't forget Sarver's short tenure as the de facto GM.

I would be shocked if they traded an unprotected pick. They will overpay for a point guard, but it's not going to be an unprotected pick.

I enjoyed the stability Ryan McDonough brought to the Suns. This is not to say I agreed with all his draft picks and trades.

However, he brought cohesion to the Suns, something that I hope continues. At least I knew McDonough would not do anything crazy.

When the Suns trade for a point guard, it will get us a lot of information about why he was fired.

I might give up an unprotected pick for a point guard that can put us into playoff contention as the pick then won't be that valuable. But I'm not even sure that a Kemba Walker or Damian Lillard gets us to that level and the other semi-available names wouldn't make much of an impact IMO.

I tend to be overly optimistic this time of year but I think a point guard like Lillard gets the Suns in the playoffs or at least very close.

Didn't see this coming. Thought he was safe until at least the All Star break. Say what you want he at least left the place in a better state than he found it.

I really think Booker, Ayton and Jackson is a core to build around, so now it is a matter of possibly adding an established star, and surround them with semi-veteran role players. I don't expect playoffs this year, but above 30 victories would be nice.

Thanks for your tenure, McD, and good luck!
