The problem
that team would have demolished people.
The only question is if that is enough talent to overcome D'Antoni's shoddy coaching come playoff time. It's a very interesting topic though.
that team would have demolished people.
Nash, JJ, Marion, Amare, KT
Could we have done it if they kept them together?
Extract D'Antoni from that equation and yes...i think it's a team to be feared.that team would have demolished people.
Chandler would have solved Amare's deficiencies. I strongly advocated trying to get him on here for a few seasons. Amare without Chandler is what we saw. Amare with Chandler is championship material....
Too bad they hate each other.
Lol....go ahead dude....let it out. You'll feel better.EDIT:
Nevermind, Mojo beats me to making a comment about D'Antoni.
that team would have demolished people.
Sh*t. Nash-JJ-Marion-Amare-KT with James Jones, Q, House, and Barbosa would have contended this year. I still think DAL would have beaten them because of Chandler, but then again, KT was decent at keeping opposing 5s off the glass while grabbing about 8 rips himself....
M
Not with Dantoni as coach. Dallas had a balanced team on offense and defense. The no d teams of mike d are flawed too much to win it all.
I do not believe anything will change with the Suns. Winning a championship hasn't been a priority since we started selling draft picks for cash.
When the franchise stops being profitable, Sarver may just move the team to San Diego rather than sell it.
I guess your right look at all those rookies the Mavs drafted in the past five years on a championship team. Unless you suck for 3-4 years and have top 10 picks every year you can not build a team through the draft. (ala OKC/Portland/Bulls) or if you suck really bad and get a top 3 pick.
They drafted Dirk Nowitski, without whom their moves in the last five years would not have mattered. They already drafted their star.
not to mention they drafted (can't remember his name, the PG from Wisconsin) who they used to trade for Jason Kidd who led the them to the Finals.

still can't believe we just gave Amare up... FOR NOTHING.
what an incredibly stupid ass move that combined with the non-move of him at the trading deadline. if they didn't trade him there, they should have committed, it's that simple. otherwise, if you know you're going to lose him (and if they didn't know he wouldn't take a "what if" deal they're freaking ********) you get something for him... period.

I've said this before, but we tried to trade him multiple times. He was practically in Golden State until they renegged. That package would have netted us Curry, Biedrins, Wright, and filler.
Don't forget, if we would have traded him at the deadline we wouldn't have got to see the spectacular sweep of the Spurs and deep playoff run. While not a championship, it was extremely satisfying.
New Charlotte Bobcats general manager Rich Cho will work under Rod Higgins, who now has the title president of basketball operations.
"One of the worst things you can do in this league is be a middle-of-the-road team - in the playoffs one year, out the next," Cho said Tuesday at an introductory news conference at Time Warner Cable Arena.
"One of the tough things about a middle-of-the-road team is you never get really good draft picks. That makes it hard to have sustained success. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward.
"I'm a big proponent of accumulating assets," Cho said. "That's how we did it in Oklahoma City."

Is Sarver taking notes?
I respectfully disagree. The issue here is an organizational philosophy. The Mavs see young players as assets to acquire veterans. We see them as ways to pay shareholders.
But to make us all vomit...
2004: Pick #7
Traded to the Bulls for future pick and cash. Players on the board: Andre Igodula, Luol Deng, Al Jefferson, Andres Biedrins, Josh Smith,
2005: Pick #21

Pick #57
Sold for Cash to Orlando. Players on the Board: Marcin Gortat (Suns Selection)
2006: Pick #21
Traded (along with another first rounder) for cash.
Players on the board Rajon Rondo (Suns pick), Kyle Lowrie, Shannon Brown, Jordan Farmar
Pick #27
Traded for Cash
Players on the board: Sergio Rodriguez (Suns pick), Daniel Gibson, Paul Millsap,
2007 Draft
Traded for Cash
Players on the board: Rudy Fernandez (Suns Pick), Aaron Brooks, Glen Davis, Marc Gasol
2008 Draft
Pick #24
Traded along with Kurt Thomas for 2nd round pick (aka cash)
Players on the board: Serge Ibaka (selected here), Nicolas Batum, George Hill
More fun...
If the Suns just kept their picks instead of getting cash or to not pay cash:
C - Gortat
PF - Ibaka
SF - Igudala
SG - Fernandez
PG - Rondo
That team would really give the Suns starters a run for their money.
For real fun, you can play the "Hindsight game" to make your starting 5.
The last good player that the Suns drafted and kept was Amare in 2002. This is simply pathetic.
Ugh.
I'll play:
Rondo-Iguodala-Smith-Ibaka-Gasol
DEFENSE like a m'fer!!!!
That team would also get 20+ppg from Iggy and Smith meaning that Rondo would average 15apg....
