Here is the Suns second pre-draft workout group for today.

Geez. Are they deliberately focusing on guys who aren't close to being projected to be drafted? Are they planning on signing a ton of undrafted rookie free agents?

Maybe some of these players will be signed to their G-league team. Also one never knows when they find the next undrafted gem like VanVleet.

VanVleet was at least considered a viable prospect coming out of Wichita State. Other than Grant Williams and MAYBE Ethan Happ (who is basically the next Alec Peters), these guys they are bringing in are all scrubs.

Do you think the Suns are practicing their scouting and pre-draft workout techniques?

There must be motivation to bring these guys in for workouts.

I have no clue what they're doing, but it looks like a tremendous waste of time, or else a precursor to a major reach in the draft at pick #32.

More non-draft-worthy prospects.

In a half dozen workouts, the only legitimate draft prospect the Suns have brought in is Grant Williams.

Getting very nervous...

We can only speculate the reason the Suns are working out so many less known players.

It could the Suns are looking to trade #6 and/or #32 for veterans and need the players for G-League or fall camp.

Honestly, it feels like either (a) these players are made up; or (b) James jones might be trying to challenge Keim for “smartest GM in the valley who can find guys no one has heard of.”

Particularly because we have the 32nd pick, not picks at the end of the 2nd round.

There are a bunch of obscure players brought in every summer for pre-draft workouts but I think Jones plans to top it.

Except for it sounding strange, I think Jones and Monty might be honing their skills for later invites.

For the love of God, no more learning on the job, please.

The Suns are working on the culture part of it. The invitees seem to have good things to say about Monty's involvement.

A lot of the players are making the rounds with other teams as well, not just the Suns.

Guard Luguentz Dort has risen to 24th in Tankathon. He is a physical specimen but I am surprised to see him projected to go this high. I understand he considers himself to be a point guard.

Zylan Cheatham also of ASU is expected to work out for the Suns today.

Obviously, they are scouting for the #32 pick with the last couple of workouts. I wonder if they plan on bringing in Cassius Winston or Ty Jerome in for a workout.

The last couple of workouts, as well as all of their other workouts, feature a bunch of guys who aren't even a top 100 draft prospect. If ANY of them, other than Grant Williams, is the pick at 32, James Jones needs to be fired on the spot. It would make McD's ridiculous picks of Tyler Ennis and Davon Reed look like strokes of genius.
