worst game I’ve seen all season
You think so? He has been awful for a long time. I'm not sure it mattered - Monty seems to like him for some reason.I don't know if it will happen in the next couple days but I am certain, either via trade or signing that they will get another PG. Elfrid Payton seems to have dug his grave tonight.

He has been awful his entire career, but we were just forced played Paul for virtually the entire second half because of how putrid Payton was tonight.
Yes, I 100% think that they will bring in another guard, and soon, at the very least someone on a 10 day to take a look at.
As far as Payton goes... I miss Isaiah Cannon and Shaq Harrison right about now. That's how bad Payton is. Can a G-League guy on a two-way contract really be any worse? I don't think so.
What makes it worse is Shamet hasn't lived up to expectations either.
Tough loss tonight. Atlanta just shot it better and Trae was flaming hot. DA was nonexistent. 6 points….c’mon now. Book forced too many threes versus going to the rim. I like that Bridges was still aggressive. Onto DC
Shamet has certainly under preformed but he hustles, he has played very solid defensively and generally knows where to go... his shooting just been a mess and a big disappointment but he is serviceable. Payton is just a mess, while he can do some decent plays on offense here and there he also botches several plays on that end and... good lord, his defense is often about as bad as one could possibly play.
Payton has been horrible for us and this is easily his worst year but look around at the two way contract players, it's not an impressive list. Why shoot so low when we all know we have a real need. Most two way contract players sit on the bench when they're not playing in the G League, we need someone demonstrably better than Elfrid and most G League guards aren't.As far as Payton goes... I agree. I thought he'd be fine as the third point guard, but I think I am ready to admit I was wrong.I've already moved on from Payton. It's painfully obvious he is not the answer.
Suns need to add point guard depth now before the trade deadline.
Oh I agree. We need an actual NBA player, but I don't think a random point guard would be worse than Payton. Suns obviously need a real improvement there, but ir's gonna be another couple of weeks before the buyout market opens up, so my suggestion is a temporary thing.Payton has been horrible for us and this is easily his worst year but look around at the two way contract players, it's not an impressive list. Yeah, me too. I was hoping we'd see the Payton (minus the stupid hair) that we saw for a few weeks with us before we went into tank mode a few years ago. Whether it was because we'd started tanking or he just reverted to the real Payton, he was a waste the rest of his time here and it looks like that's all he can be anymore.I agree. I still think we need better than that. Get Moore or Jevon Carter back as our 4th string guard but we need someone that can match Payne on a decent night.Get E'twaun Moore back on the team. He was great as a 3rd pg.
