Ayton only 6 attempts.

This team feast on the pick and roll and we totally got away from our advantages and tried to run and gun with the Hawks.

Never once seen them switch and hunt Young and make him play defense

When the Suns play the other team's game they get in trouble. I so dislike when they keep shooting 3-pointers when they are off.

They give up rebounds and forget about defense.

any team that makes 20 3's at a 49% clip is going to beat any other team. they earned it
but because they can't keep that up, i wouldn't mind meeting Atlanta in the Finals

my only gripe is that we didn't play to our usual strength in the middle,
the usual shot selection issues from our star,
and, tonight, the complaining by both of our stars

and while they really turned up the defense in the final minutes
that they didn't do so earlier

oh, and of course, Payton

While this game proves nothing it does show what we need to work on.
Yeah like 1tin said any team that shoots like that is gonna win.
We can still be the team that had 3 or 4 10 game win streaks.
It also shows that maybe going through this FA period without doing ANYTHING might not be the best idea.

I didn't get to see the game, but the comments in this thread give me a pretty clear idea of what went wrong. As someone said, you can't win them all and they were about due to have an off night they couldn't just play their way through the way they mostly have been lately.

As a more general observation, both Jones and Monty have proven to each be a bit stubborn in their habits, so I am taking them at their word that they both believe everything is perfect with how the team is currently configured, even if that ultimately proves to be folly. I also think that the ever present dark specter of Sarver is still lurking in the background, and that ultimately is why we won't "push all our chips to the middle" as someone put it to get the extra help that might push us over the top. Sarver cares more about the nickels and dimes than he does about winning it all, so I am pretty sure we will just play the hand we have rather than adding anything that might be an upgrade... unless it's someone who might literally almost cost nothing to bring in.

It's not losing as much as how you lose. Giving up 20 3-pointers is not going to cut it.

I too thought the Suns should have gone small earlier. They were not closing out on the Hawks shooters quick enough.

It does pose questions about playing teams like the Heat, Hawks and Warriors.

So will Monty learn from his mistakes and not be so stubborn?

Hard to go small with Nadar and Shamet out. I believe Jones wants a image of being a players Gm. He had no problem letting players go that we’re not sign by him. I think Payton survives because of this

I would not mind having Jevon Carter back. His D was useful in situations like this.
