I don't think the REAL greg popovich would agree with this post. the lakers are a championship caliber team the the suns have not faced yet these playoffs. the spurs and blazers certainly were not....

I might be wrong, but this appears to be an emotional post. the spurs have nothing to do with this.. 1999 spurs are done and the 2010 spurs are not true title contenders. the lakers are a true title contender in 2010...and now that we have learned that the suns are...we will see how they matchup with the best.

then you have orlando(IMO will win the east and would beat phoenix if they upset LA). Orlando comes into today the HOTTEST team down the stretch...and the 2nd hottest team over the last few months would be choking on their exhaust right now. but even if it is boston re-emerging as the eastern champ..they are a championship caliber team as well. I don't think the suns will knife through any of these teams in 5. If they beat the lakers they will have to play 6 or 7 games. they also can't afford to leave LA down 2-0 or it will be over(1st game might be over lol). I think the lakers will win this one in 6, but the suns will be tough for them.

The quality of competition in the East is certainly suspect--for you to declare that Orlando is the "hottest" team based on who they have defeated thus far is pretty foolish. And I think Hollinger was right--the winner of the Suns/Spurs series will represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. I stand by my prediction--the bench for the Suns will be the X-factor.

I second that. Magics got exposed in game 1 of ECF. In some sense, Celtics and Suns are alike. Both have a lot of talent on the roster that can come through in big games when needed. The advantage for Suns would be Amare-Nash generated offensive power, given very good defense and overall contribution from many players on the roster for both teams.

That some serious dick sucking from a Spurs fan, you should feel embarrassed. Just because Phoenix smashed your team (that was done 2 years ago) doesn't mean they are going to beat the defending champs.

The Lakers have more talent, size, coach and a much, much more superior franchise player. It's the facts. Getting Suns fan hopes is just cruel and disingenuous.

While I do think orlando is in for a fight...I don't think they will get swept. they can blow up the celtics in game 2.

the lakers are just too strong for anyone else in the Western Conference. the western conference is a tough one from top to bottom and i think the suns will recover to push them in the series, but the lakers are all alone at the top(as usual over the years)...so I can see why there is some dislike here on your part.

Why is it foolish? You said the suns are the hottest team in the league? I could question who they have played as well(blazers without Roy healthy and the old spurs). But the facts are the suns were hot just like the magic were. The magic were on a 14 game winning streak and going back beyond that they were tearing up the NBA since the all star break. The magic have also defeated every team in the NBA this season. They were the hottest team until they finally lost a game to the celtics who just happen to be a great team. Nevertheless you pointed out orlando's playoff competition. It is still a great accomplishment to start 8-0 in the playoffs winning games by 20 pts every night no matter who you play. Not foolish for me to say they were the hottest team in the league.

I agree about charlotte being suspect. But the hawks are a good team. I think the hawks could compete with and perhaps take out some of the teams that made the WC playoffs. Boston and Orlando are clearly better than all of the western conference teams other than the lakers which will be proven shortly(eventhough boston proved it recently). so while top to bottom the east may be weaker than the west...at the top the east is stronger now that teams like the spurs, mavs, nuggetts have all lost a step or took one back.

well by that notion the suns got exposed in game 1 of the WCF particularly at the defensive end and on the boards getting trashed. one game does not make a series. the magic shot the ball very poorly from the field for most of the game. for all of the people worried about dwight howard...the magic have proven that they can win big without him producing offensively so I think that's being overblown. It just comes down to making their shots.

This isn't surprising coming from a Spurs fan. The Spurs failed 3 different occasions at defending their title. Never came close. Watch the Lakers and learn.

Admittedly--the Lakers looked great last night in game one. We'll have to see which adjustments will be made in game two. If Lamar Odom continues to have such a high level of play throughout the series, it will be tough for any team to compete with them.

As far as the Spurs not being to repeat--yes--this is true--and is one of their flaws.

But before you start planning the Laker victory parade, you might want to wait to see what happens in this series or in the NBA Finals first. Because if memory serves correct--I think it was the Celtics who kept the Lakers from repeating a few years ago. And like the Spurs did a few years ago, the Celtics also caused Kobe Bryant to cry like a 10 year old little girl on national television...no offense intended towards 10 year old little girls, either...

Ok I was wrong about the magic they were my pick all along to win the east like they did last year....it just goes to show no matter how hot you may be.......if you don't have the players, talent, coaching, and heart to win a title, you're not going to win one much less two back to back. I understand you are a spurs fan and are fortunate enough to have finally seen your team get a few. I also take it your laker hate is just fun and games because when you turn on the tv and watch the game I watch...they are not crybabies. they are grown men playing ball as well as any team to include the celtics. this finals will be worth watching if it is a lakers/celtics showdown. but for now...GO SUNS! and if I were kobe I wouldn't be hurt by your comments. he's the best player in the post jordan era. and there are some good ones.
