If Oubre costs 15 million a year the Suns should pass, unless the Cap is going to 130 million or something crazy.

He is good - but he is not that good.

That is starter money, and I think Bridges and TJ will be better players than him over the next 4 years.

10 million is too high for Holmes also. We can not pay someone 10 million a year that is only going to play 15-20 minutes a night. Probably less if Ayton improves like we expect him too.

15 million isn't what you think it is, apparently. In today's NBA, that's a pretty mediocre salary. In that ballpark (+/- a mil) you have players such as Mahinmi, Mozgov, Schroder, Demarre Carroll, Capela, Gorgui Dieng, Ariza, Bledsoe, JR Smith, James Johnson, Luke Babbitt, Brandon Knight and others. It would put him roughly as the 70th highest paid player and he'd probably be close to 90th and maybe even lower within a year or two. So, while it's an overpay, it's a reasonable overpay because he's still on the come. We probably wouldn't want him unless we were confident he was going to continue to improve.

Well, another way to look at it is - who are we alternatively going to spend that $15 million on? If we can use that to sign someone like Kemba Walker FOR CERTAIN, then yeah, probably you let Oubre walk for that scenario.

But that isn't at all realistic, because Kemba Walker isn't coming here, no way, no how... and neither is Durant or anyone else of that tier. Sorry to disabuse anyone of their Pollyanna illusions. That's reality and you all better adjust to it... or anyone that hasn't, had better do so.

So it is much more realistic for the Suns to spend their capital on guys pretty much like Oubre - lower tier youngsters who can (and are eager to) contribute and hopefully grow with a young team. Certainly, the Suns aren't going to turn into a contender for at best a couple more seasons anyway. It's better to get pieces that can help incrementally in that process rather than saving up cap space for a "superstar" who is never realistically going to come here anyway to shortcut the process.

But we also shouldn't spend money just to spend it, we did that last offseason and have been stuck trying to include overpaid expiring contracts in larger deals to facilitate trades with other teams. Having some cap flexibility will allow us to sit back and be called by teams around the league looking for someone who has $5-10 million available to help them make a deal work and in today's NBA you need that space more than an expiring contract that represents future cap space.

While I like the energy Oubre brings, I wouldn't get carried away with him just yet. He is shooting a total of 18 for 43 in those four games, a mediocre at best 41.9% clip. He also only has a total of 15 rebounds (less than 4 per game), 6 assists, 8 turnovers and 3 steals. His plus-minus in the two wins was outstanding (+12 and +15) and in the two losses was bad (each -7). Especially in terms of even thinking about discussing committing salary to him at the expense of a much-needed point guard, I think the jury is still very much out on Oubre.

So because he can't stand Koko he's a troll? He's clearly a suns fan just has a different take. I mean you have the option to ignore but yeah whatever. Igor is not the man and Ita going to come up time and time again this season. Team is playing great and it's been great to watch I hope he proves me wrong

No, he's a troll because he repeats the same crap ad nauseam, only occasionally sprinkling in something new and inane... such as his new belief that during this recent turning Jackson and Ayton are struggling and being under utilized.

yes. an insulting person would be someone to ignore. however, self-censoring strong differences of opinion is weak.

this is a public forum. i write mainly for the readers. there are many more of them than posters
i'd prefer that posters ignore me rather than just be argumentative
but i wouldn't ignore anyone. i do want to know what fans are thinking about the games

if fanboy homers ignored critics and critics ignored them, this forum would still work for readers

and you've said that before. only adding the "inane" insult this time

as he said before. some posters repeat their defense and/or praise of Igor. he repeats his criticism

i mostly agree with his opinion of Igor and i'm guessing the majority are still critical of him as well
so "ad nauseam" is in the eyes of the beholder
those who haven't closed their eyes, that is

Man... he is the only person I have EVER put on ignore, literally, the only one. I suspect there are several other posters in the same boat.

I can handle differentiating view points, but when you repeat the same crap over... and over... and over... and over... and when asked "why?" you spout nonsense that spits in the face of reality and are totally unapologetic about it when the facts are brought before you... yeah, that is where I finally say "this person's view point is not worth my time to read".

I've never thought about ignoring you. I know I asked you a while back about your gramatic style which came across as "haiku" to me, but I honestly did not intend it to be insulting, it was a question about format because your posts have a different style and I've never had a problem with their substance.

1sun however... his posts are combative, repetitive, ALWAYS negative and often in bold defiance of reality. I gave 1sun a lot of time before I finally ignored him.

I have no problem with you. I can tell that, even though we disagree Koko thus far, you take each situation on it's own merit and you want the team to succeed. Whereas 1sun either enjoys suffering or enjoys bringing others to his own level. I simply don't need to read that level of negativity, especially when the team is taking a hot steaming dump on all the things he is hating them for.

What are the results for the last ten games for the Suns? 4-6? 5-5?

<Insert big smiley here>

Best part of the season so far. I've been to the darkest depths as a Suns fan this year. Don't talk to me about the back-to-back 9 point 1st quarters.
